I'm not going to stop pushing the 1/2 Ogre bandwagon anytime soon.
The only cool half-race ever.

(Even cooler, of course, if you go the fairy tale route and occasionally have a half-ogre who looks like a tall, but not unusually so, attractive and intelligent human. Who, you know, happens to have ogres as members of his or her family. Surprise! His dad really can beat up your dad!)

Actually Murlocs are inspired on the Deep Ones, not directly though.
There are some other lovecraftian inspiration in WoW too, just can't recall them now, stopped playing just before the expansion came.
Ah, there is petrified cthulhu buried in Darkshore ;)
Yeah, Old Gods of various sorts are all over, including beneath Ahn'Qiraj in Silithus on Kalimdor (and soon beneath Azjol-Nerub in Dragonblight on Northrend). There's also elemental lords (including Ragnaros in Molten Core), the debased elves-turned-serpent-things naga and so on.

Blizzard has definitely has gotten its Lovecraft on in WoW.

I want bananapeople.

Enough Yakfolk, lizardfolk, magmen, grumpy dwarves, half-baked celestial crossovers from hell.

Where is the plant love?

Slime-molds unite!

GO GO MYCONID AIR GUITAR!

Gimble is only half as fragrant! And tone deaf! Meedeley meeee!

(my guess is half orcs got the racial shaft...

...which sounds like TWO things that are banned by Eric's Grandma...)

I would definately say drow. They are such a popular race to people, and people are so tired of the level adjustment, they will come up with a way to have the race become core.
