D&D 4E New Races in 4e

I would definately say drow. They are such a popular race to people, and people are so tired of the level adjustment, they will come up with a way to have the race become core.

WoTC explicitly mentioned drow in one of their postings.

All right, I apologize for my WoW ignorance.

However, I DON'T think warforged will ever be in core, as they remind certain people of magic robots (alright, I admit it: I like Eberron, but I don't really like warforged, lightning rail, or airships. Aerenal kicks *** though.)

I would definitely like to see the goliath! A big strong race that is NOT stupid was something I was looking for for a long time.

Me too. -One not mangled between the rules for both medium and large.

Large is big!

How about flumphs?

Well, they would qualify as fairly exotic. Hmm, maybe a party of the Iconic Exotics with the Flumph Paladin and the Myconid Bard might work.

To be somewhat more serious, one question is whether any of the new races have flight as an ability and how that might be handled.

Also, I think that in some cases, it might be easy to retcon some of the races into a setting. For example, in the Forgotten Realms, changelings could be the results of some magical experiments or planar exiles who hid their identities -- and perhaps one of them was finally exposed. Also, just because something is new to an edition, does not mean that it could not have been in the background of a campaign setting. (For example, some races might live in remote areas and not be all that common numerically. Adventurers are heroes (or anti-heroes) and tend to be the exception.)

Perhaps one thing that can be done with the introduction of new races is for WotC to explain how they might work in existing campaign settings, or advice on how to incorporate the new races into a campaign.

I'd like Half-Giants without a "Half-" name...heck, while we're at it, drop the -orcs, -elves and -dragons too. Make standard Orcs a PC race, drop the -elves, and make the -dragons into a type of evolved lizardman or a magical race.
