New Release... What are they thinking?

Depending on the content, I might. Right now, I have no interest in 4e based off of what has been revealed.

I was interested until I found out that the D&DI is going to be a proprietary windows product. No thanks. I'll never forsake Ubuntu. Now, if it runs PERFECTLY through Wine, that might be a different story. Why couldn't they have made D&DI a Web 2.0 product? That would have been so sweet.

I'm pretty sure I'll be joining the ranks of 3.5 Grognards.

Probably because they presumed that "everybody" uses Windows. A little like how people code their pages for IE even though that often leads to violations of W3C standards because "everybody" uses IE.

I was fortunate enough to attend the R&D seminar conducted by WoTC on Friday at GenCon. When they got to the Rules Compendium, Bill S indicated that "this is our gift to all the fans of 3rd Edition". Bill commented for all the 3rd ed books remaining on the calendar, they DO hope that most games and campaigns will "continue" unabated into the middle of next year, and that they were producing products with that intent in mind.

I was there for this as well, and it was no doubt the best part of the Q&A for me, as it wasn't condensending, but geniune. I'm hoping this book becomes the defacto place to flip to whenever we're in doubt, and in general I have a feeling it'll be a good book just to read through as well.

I guess the hope is that those sticking with 3.5 will buy it as its the last 3.5 product being published, and that those switching to 4E will buy it because ... they want to complete their collections I would guess.
You can have a complete wotc collection of anything? :p

Be that as it may, but I haven't personally used a Micro$oft product since 1998. I've been using Linux since before 3e was released. All I'm saying is that to create a proprietary OS dependent interface is a little behind the times. It should have been a Web 2.0 application. It makes me think that they really do want the D&DI to be a MMORPG.

I'm sure they won't miss me and my little pile of cash.
