New rogue special abilities.

I think they would both work better (especially Death Attack) if they somehow has a prerequisite ability (a weak one). The abilities are pretty good, and if you compare an assassin's Death Attack DC to the what the rogue's would be if he took this at 10th level, it's a pretty powerful ability.
It would be DC = 1/2 Character Level + Int, not 1/1 CL +....
I don't remember when the shadowdancer gets hide in plain sight, but I think it's pretty high level as well.
They get it at level 1. So you can get it at about character level 7.

If you want to balance these special abilities due to concerns that they're a bit too powerful for a non-PrC, why not require a feat as a pre-req.

F'rex: Before a rogue can take HiPS, the character must have the feat Stealthy? Sure, Stealthy will actually make HiPS more powerful, but it's a feat the rogue can't take on improved critical, and it fits the character concept.

Likewise, Improved Critical doesn't seem like a bad pre-req for Death Attack. Sure, it means a straight rogue can't get Death Attack until 13th level, but that only serves to limit its availability.
