New RPG Wiki

None other than the venerable RPGNet website has created a brand new RPG Wiki, and you can find it
here.

Among other things, you can enter your own custom worlds into it - a feature I have used here by posting one of my old ideas about a Transhumanist fantasy settings...

So, does anyone else have any fantasy settings to share that he never bothered to put on a website? Now he has his chance... ;)

And it is up again...

You can enter new game systems in the Game Systems section of the Major Projects page. Just edit it and create a new link in the same format as the other links, save the page, and once you click on the link you can create a whole new page for that entry.

It's extremely simple to add new stuff, just as with other Wikis...

This is a great thing!!!

My group has fallen in love with wikis, and we have one for each of our current campaigns.

Having a general community resource like this is wonderful!

Please pardon my ignorance, but indulge my curiosity: What is a wiki? The plural of wookie?

Wikis are a special type of website where anyone can create new pages or alter existing ones. The formatting rules for text are extremely simple so that linking to other topics is a snap.

The biggest Wiki is the Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia that covers pretty much any topic, and was written solely by volunteers - and anyone can add new content, so if it doesn't have an entry about your home town (or the information about it is incomplete), you can enter it and all other users can immediately access your information.

There are also a couple of RPG-related Wikis, like the GURPSWiki. The one at RPGNet is just the latest. They are all great places to show off fan-created works without going to the trouble of maintaining an website of your own - and users will have a much easier time of finding the material, too!
