Fire Bond
Necromancy (Fire)
Level: Sor/Wiz 4, Clr 4
Componants: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Living creature touched
Duration: 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will negates and Fortitude half (see text)
Spell Resistance: Yes

When you cast this spell, touch the target creature. In combat, this may require a touch attack, and you may want to start a grapple. If you succeed, you weave a web of death and fire magic in the subject that will be tied off if the ever leave your touch. When you touch the target, they may negate the spell with a Will save.

If the target's skin ever ceases to be in contact with yours, they will immediately be immolated in hellish flames that burst out from inside their body. These flames deal 1d6 points of fire damage per level, and 1 point of permanent Constitution damage per two levels. Bot the fire damage and constitution damage may be halved with a Fortitude save.

Arcane Material Componant: The ashes of a cremated corpse.

So, whaddaya think? Should the damage be bumped? De-bumped? The Con damage decreased to temporary, or to 1 per 3 levels? One of the saves removed? All advice welcome.

I think this spell does a little to much damage (con wise and all) for a level 4 spell

What I would do is make the con damage temporary, limit the damage to book dice and maybe raise the level to 5 or 6

Otherwise it is a nifty and evil spell!

So make it Temporary damage, and bump it up to lv. 5. I don't know how I forgot to put in the (max 15d6) bit. Stupid me.

How about a Lesser and Greater version?

Lesser Fire Bond
Necromancy (Fire)
Level: Sor/Wiz 3, Clr 3
Duration: 1 hour/2 levels (D)

As Fire Bond, except as noted above. In addition, Fire damage is 1d4 per level (max 10d4), and temporary Con damage is one point per three levels.

Greater Fire Bond
Necromancy (Fire)
Level: Sor/Wiz 7, Clr 7
Componants: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Living creature touched
Duration: 2 hours/level (D)
Saving Throw: Will negates and Fortitude partial (see text)
Spell Resistance: Yes

If the target's flesh ever ceases to be in contact with yours, they immediately die as the net is tied off and flames consume their life force from the inside out. If they make a successfull Fortitude save, the instead take 3d6 + 1/level Fire damage, and one point of temporary Constitution damage per two levels.

Arcane Material Componant: Ashes of a cremated body mixed with a pinch of gold dust (worth 5 sp) and powdered blood.

NOTES: GFB is an insta-kill spell, with two saves, and both Fire and Con damage if the first fails and the second succeeds. Disintigrate, a 6th level spell, allows only one save, and does 5d6 damage for Partial. Do you think that Greater Fire Bond is balanced against Desintigrate in this way?

Hmm it is a rather interesting idea. Yea I think just reduce the damage a tad from the original and make it con damage instead of drain. Con drain is a pretty big thing :-) I like the concept tho
