New Spell:Holy Bolt (New Version)(Edited)

As far as the cleric having many ways to get rid of undead, yes there are some, but nothing as overt as Holy Bolt (a 1st level spell). Turn undead is nice but will probably just take care of some skellies and zombies...not vampires.

As far as who unholy bolt would affect? Well as I said its all pretty arbitrary, maybe good creatures and dragons. Undead do get special immunities and things but they have no con bonus. Inherently that gives them many advantages, but it also means they have few hp. Your spell doesnt hold them or make you invisible to them or even command or rebuke them, it just kills them.

I think 1d8+1 is balanced mechanically, but I think its a dangerous flavor to have.

The turn undead ability destroys any undead who's hit dice are one half or less the clerics level. So an 8th level cleric lets say can obliterate Allips, Ghouls, Ghasts, Shadows, Tiny through Huge Skeletons, Wights, and Tiny through Large zombies, and vampires or other templeted undead with 4 or less HD. And thats just from the Monster Manual 1. In numbers. They also have a lot of anti undead spells.
Basicaly I just dont want my Mystic to have a lot of spells that damage everything. They focus on alignment and planar differences. But as far as amounts of damage versus other classes etc that doesnt matter quite as much IMC due to the blurring of the spellcasters and types of magic that we've talked about
Yes I think the d8+1 works nicely overall I'm pretty happy with it. Dont know what you mean by dangerous flavour.
I must say though I am begining to agree with you about reflex saves VS ranged touch attacks for many spells. it just seems more elegant somehow. Check out my assorted new spells thread.
