I'm looking for some feedback on the following proposed new spell -- particularly, whether the spell level seems too high or low:
Some spells to gauge the level by:
- Mirage arcane (Wiz5): one of the first glamers which mask objects; it has a shorter duration (1 hour/level), but a much larger area of effect.
- Permanent image (Wiz6): one of the only permanent illusion spells; a figment instead of a glamer, but a much larger area of effect.
- Veil (Wiz6): a same-level glamer; it too has a shorter duration (1 hour/level), but a much larger area of effect (all creatures within 400+ feet).
MASK OBJECT
Illusion (Glamer)
Level: Sor/Wiz 6
Components: V,S,M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: One touched object weighing up to 5 lb./level
Duration: Permanent (D)
Saving Throw: Will disbelief (if interacted with)
Spell Resistance: No
You make a single object look different. Similar to a change self spell, the apparent change is up to you, and includes only visual appearance (no tactile, auditory, olfactory, or thermal elements are altered). The changed object may seem to be up to 20% larger or smaller in any dimension. For example, with this spell you could make a sword appear to be a torch, a treasure chest appear to be a broken barrel, or a spellbook look like a simple skull. The effect is permanent until dismissed.
Note: Creatures get Will saves to recognize the glamer as an illusion if they interact with it (such as by touching it).
Material Component: Powdered chrysoprase gems worth 500 gp.
