[New Spells] Three Harry Potter-inspired spells

Whizbang Dustyboots

Gnometown Hero
In addition to the Disarm cantrip from the "Power Word Disarm" thread, here are three more Harry Potter-inspired spells for possible use in a Redhurst campaign.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Focus Revelation
Divination
Level: Sor/Wiz 0
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Touch
Targets: One touched arcane or divine focus
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Will negates (object)
Spell Resistance: Yes (object)

You receive a vision of the last time the focus (arcane or divine) was used, although you cannot discern who used it or what the target was, only how the spell was cast. With a successful Spellcraft check (15 + level of the spell), you may identify which spell was cast.

Focus: A wand.

Four Points
Divination
Level: Sor/Wiz 0
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Target: A wand
Duration: Instantaneous

Your wand points to north, serving as a compass. The spell is effective in any environment in which "north" exists, but it may not work in extraplanar settings.

Focus: A wand.

Wand Light
Evocation [Light]
Level: Sor/Wiz 0
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Target: A wand
Duration: 15 min./level (D)

This spell functions like light, except that the effect is always centered in the tip of your wand.

Focus: A wand.

In the context of Harry Potter, when nearly all spells require a wand, I would think that Focus Revelation would be a bit higher level. Probably first, but not a cantrip.

Though you might think about having spells of different rarities, or restricted to certain groups. That might be a spell that only magical law enforcement people know about. That seemed to be the case in the book, IIRC.

Things really get turns upside down if your making D&D spells for a HP game, but not if your turning HP spells for D&D games. In the first case Charmis very high/rare/hard to cast. In the second it doesn't change.

Well, the goal here is to inject the Harry Potter feel into D&D, and not vice versa. (Although why WotC never made a Harry Potter RPG, I'll never know.)

If it helps, think of these as Redhurst spells. ;)

Ah nice then, these are good.

I don't think they made a HP RG as they don't own the rights, I don't think. Whats redhurst?
