I would start with the original film if you are interested.I may be unique in that I have never seen any Stargate in any form ever.
The Vanir still exist in the Pegasus Galaxy, don't they? I don't remember how that all shook out. They could head to the Galaxy of Ida, where O'Neill first met the Asgard, to try and get more of their tech. And there's at least one other race out there, that's as advanced as the Asgard. In the episode in which Carter got a concussion and was imagining other people giving her advice, the race that attacked the ship had beaming tech that was markedly different in appearance to the Asgard beaming tech."Get Ready. We're heading through the gate one more time. Chevron 8 is locked." -Joseph Mallozzi
The 8th chevron is used to dial outside of a galaxy. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the show takes place in another galaxy similar to SG:A being in the Pegasus galaxy.

"Stargate" was the code name of a real project undertaken by the CIA: remote viewing.Within a segment of the fandom there's this kayfabe idea that all of it is real, just fictionalized. So the characters in the shows are composites of different people, but due to the unique situation in Universe, the characters are based on single individuals and that is why they are so unlikable.
I think if I were interested I would have watched something by now. The weird thing is I don't know why I'm not interested. I like sci-fi, after all--more than I like fantasy! I watch Star Trek, Doctor Who, Foundation, Alien: Earth, Star Wars, the lot. But weirdly, Stargate has just been a big hole in my sci-fi.I would start with the original film if you are interested.
It is surprising because it is very RPGish, a party of PC's going through a stargate.I think if I were interested I would have watched something by now. Martin Gero is a character in-universe. And let's not forget Joe's novels."Stargate" was the code name of a real project undertaken by the CIA: remote viewing.
It's all Russian nesting dolls. "Wormhole Extreme" was the fictionalization of "Stargate: SG1", which is a fictionalization of the Stargate programme by the CIA.
I think my tinfoil hat has a leak.
