New trick with Iron body?

Force0

First Post
First, let me explain the senario: We (a party of 10) almost all badly damaged or dead vs a "Terror feind(sp?)" a monster of our Dm's imagination, imperious to magic of all types (fire, cold, lightening, sonic AND force) and beside that got a Spell resistance of 50 (can you say immune to magic?).

Last session, our mage (his character is on the "almost crazy" side..) during that encounter looked under telekinesis and found out that objects did from 1 to 1d6 of damage per 25 pounds, so he had a idea, and said: "If my magic can't do anything, I will!" and after having cast iron body on himself telekinesised (is that even a word?) himself on the monster (he was now weighing more that 1400 pounds!).

Our Dm ruled that it actually did the immense damage on the creature and we saved the day..

What do you think of this tactic, is it even valid? why or why not? Any comments on it would be welcomed, as I fear our Dm (Now knowing the tactic) will employ it against us, any counters or such would be welcomed =)

The description for Telekinesis states that you can lift and move 25 pounds per caster level. If the mage did in fact weigh 1400 pounds, then he would have to be 56th level to move himself. Since I'm sure that's not the case, he shouldn't have been able to lift such a heavy object.

I'm thinking the main problem is that the spell makes you "stone like" rather than changing you into stone. If it actually changed you the average wizard isn't strong enough to move in their new form.

A secondary concern is that it sounds like this guy is 56th level, he would have to be to move a 1400lb object.

Actually...

The mage just used Dimension door to pop in the air over the bad guy's head, and THEN used telekinesis to aim himself (I think it was how it was played).

On a other note, how much weigh a dragon? *Evil Grin*

Still... he shouldn't even be able to affect it until he's 56th level. His attempt at aiming by using Telekinesis shouldn't have done anything. He would have simply fallen straight down from where he appeared.

Sounds like another variant on the Falling Druid Trick. ("I turn into a hummingbird, fly over his head, and then turn into a Dire Rhinoceros.")

I think my campaign world needs a new diety: Gravitus, Lord of Dropping Stuff, who gets angry when adventurers use his domain for such cheezy tricks. ;)

This reminds me of the old "use shrink item on a [maximum weight your mage can affect] anvil, then fly above them and drop it as you say the command word" trick... usually good for a few hundred D6's of damage.

Are you allowed to cast telekinesise after casting Iron Body? isn't there some kind of no casting while the Iron Body spell is active rule?
