D&D 5E New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

WotC's Jeremy Crawford has announced a new Unearthed Arcana article today with redesigns from the prior Heroes of Krynn UA based on feedback, and in the following video he discusses that feedback and what's in the article:
  • New iteration of Kender based on feedback survey, due to mixed response. This time is a back to basics, aiming to capture 1E AD&D fearlessness, curiosity and taunting skills. Delve into their origins from Gnomes in deep history.
  • Kender are no longer fey creatures who grab objects from the Feywild
  • Tweaked Feats from prior article
  • Tweaked Backgrounds from prior article
  • Brand new rule giving a list of free Feats for ANY Background
  • Free Feat rule for Level 4 for all characters that doesn't take the ASI away, based on a curated list
  • Reveals that in the Adventure, healing magic is already back.

I have a player who never played pre 4e. She only knows some very basics on DL and the playtest stuff. I asked her about such an organization... her answer was "great Mutant/superhuman Registration act... lots of characters came out looking good from that"
oh god... my group is now calling the white robes "Reed and Tony" and asking about useing a simulacrum spell on a god of thunder...

So that means that Battle Masters can get up to 20 Superiority Die after adding in all possible factors.

Marry me Heroes of Krynn Revisted UA!
6 from subclass, 12 from Krynn feats(which takes 2 ASIs since you get two for background), 5 more from Martial Adept. You can get up to 23 by my count, but I think you're wasting ASIs at that point.

I think it's pretty clearly a case of failure to adequately consider the moral implications of things whilst trying to paint a dramatic picture.
Maybe, but that seems to fit into Raistlins arc anyway, based on what I remember it was a White Robe that made him take the Test.

Maybe time to read those 6 novels, again. It's been a very long time.

I may surprise people by this but I think that Dragonlance should make full use of alignment. This is because Dragonlance is the Saturday Morning Cartoons of D&D settings - one of good vs evil. One where the bad guys wearing black robes is as on the nose as calling them Decepticons. One where not!Tiamat has stolen all the eggs of the good dragons to twist them; she's cartoonishly evil. And one where even the "good" guys aren't so much good as looking shiny and the side we are supposed to cheer for. And I like the idea that there is a Saturday Mornings Cartoons setting to go alongside settings like Strixhaven.

So that means that Battle Masters can get up to 20 Superiority Die after adding in all possible factors.

Some of which are only useable with the maneuvers from those KoS feats. Which isn't going to give your character so much of a straight power boost (unless those are the primary maneuvers you plan to have your character use) as giving them more flexibility in combat since they don't have to worry about spending regular battlemaster dice for the maneuvers they gain from the feats. If the maneuvers from the feats are/were stuff they'd already selected from their subclass progression or planned to take, they can switch up their regular battlemaster maneuvers for things they might have liked to have picked but had to originally make a tough choice on.
So you could end up with a few more dice to pump into your primary combat maneuvers, but then also have dice to spare for the more situational ones that you wouldn't have had access to before.

The thing to keep in mind is that those dice from the KoS feats only refresh on a long rest, not on a short one, so that's going to affect your decisions on when to use them.

Marvel maintained for a very long time the SRA supporters were the good guys.

Good guys who dispatched SHILED jets to threaten to shoot down a girl who rides a magic cloud in order to force her to become a sniper.

I don't know much DL lore but the little I do comes from those 6 books and I believe you are correct.

yup... and made a clone to kill there friedns, and locked people up with no due proccesss (in a place known to drive you mad) and people who tried to arrest people who could NOT break the law, but who disagreed with it, BEFORE it was passed.
