Tar,

Sort of my reaction...though mostly yawn, other than spell points system is at least different.

Wow, Nightfall!!!! You yawned at this!? Now i've gotta check out AU and everything even tangentially related to SS!! Because, well...you yawned!!!!

EDIT: and be assured, without that second backhand comment, SS wouldn't have a sale, because you credibility increases with each fawning post you make. ;)

Uhm okay Jasm. ;) But I will point out what I like about AU is that it deals a lot more with rituals and pomp and circumstance. Plus the fact that while the power levels are a little more in some areas for the core classes, they aren't per-se as bad as some others. (IE, while a greenbond may have more access to various healing spells, via Positive Energy, a cleric and a druid can still kick said character around at various levels. This is primarily do the fact there are feats and spells that can INCREASE a 3.0 or 3.5 cleric or druid's focuses more than say a Greenbond to various degrees.) Now for UA, sure there might be stuff to improve on various EXISTING D&D/d20 campaigns. But realastically I got enough variants from the Player's Guides so far to make me feel more comfortable than waiting around for another book to do so.

Like to point out these are just MY feelings/thoughts/opinions. I am liable to change them...but it's doubtful.

Also another reason for me liking AU is the Diamond Throne campaign book offers ways of incorporating Relics and Rituals (1 and 2) prestige classes AND CC 1 and CC 2 monsters (I assumed Monte used CC Revised in place of CC 1 since it's a better book overall.)

That's nice. I wish I had you powers of perception as to the relative quality of one set of variant rules versus another; man to see into the future. Because then it would be as plain as your bias that everything however unrelated put out by SS is simply divine...

Oh, wait, my sarcasm is passe....let me put it this way; this fanboy drivel kinda destroys any credibility your opinion might hold. ;)

But if the WotC book was called NEW MAGIC ROCKS or the Malhavoc book was called I HATE BUSINESS MEN then you never would have thought to post here... and given I was hoping to discuss what was in UA, not what is in AU it's kinda annoying to be honest.

Uhm Jasm,

I do like Midnight! :) Book of the Righteous is very good. I might be biased but I do believe it's not all S&SS all the time.

Olive,

Right...Look I gave my feelings and thoughts. You guys don't like em, that's fine. But there's no need to get personal. If you all love the book, fine. I could care less. I'm just stating my opinion. I thought that was what the forums were for. No I can't say with 100% accuracy that I won't change my mind. But I would LIKE a LITTLE respect for the fact I'm not drooling over the book like some people are because it has aspects of stuff that's already out there.

What drooling? Most have been speculating and specifically witholding judgment. Only you have come down on the point with no other provocation than to plug AU; you know relativly little about this book and you have brought no specific issues. You like AU better; why? You haven't seen UA. You really come off as obnoxious some times....

Okay, we've seen that some people aren't interested in UA and they favor AU currently because Diamond Throne has some notes on using SL material. I don't think I need to see any more references to that.

Does anyone know if UA is going to be in full color like most WoTC books? One thing I thought was terrible about Arms & Equipment was that it was in black and white and seemed overpriced, especially compared to another WoTC book that came out at the same time. What was it, Races of Faerun I think? Bad marketing move on Wizards part there having two products with similiar price points and vastly different content/layout/value to dollar ratio there.

Now me, I'm hoping that the material in UA is similiar to that in the original in that it expands upon the system without requiring a lot of rewriting of base assumptions.

One of the things I didn't like about the various Player's Options books is that they opened up so many cans of worms, that if you didn't retro fit other elements of the campaign, the players were virtually unstopable. Hope the same doesn't happen here but will reserve judgement until the book actually comes out.

Well I am interested in Unearthed Arcana. I hear that they have this Cavalier class, and something called the Thief-Acrobat. Plus, there are rules for using caltrops, and there is even a spiked buckler!

Oh, the 3.5 Unearthed Arcana looks great too. :)

Seriously, I think that I will be getting this one. And the book of exalted deeds, and the 3.5 Psionics book. Wotc is getting ALL my lunch money! :)

When does it come out, anyhow? And shall a rumours page be started on enworld? So far, I like the idea of the spell point system (it was one of the attractions of the 3.0 psionics handbook for me). Defense bonuses sound interesting, and I bet that there are other options in there that we haven't been told about yet.
