New use for the D12

All untrained skill checks rolled on a D12, makes that first rank just a bit more special. I havn't changed the list of skills usable untrained.

Talk about a thread hijac. Any comments about the origional post or is random determination of date/time that pivotal to your campaigns.

Fair enough. I kinda like the idea, but I'm not sure d12 isn't too much of a penalty. But I like your thinking.

I was just thinking about how incredibly bad people can be w/o training at fairly common things, If you have high enough bonuses they can still offset the dice. My players like it...

Here's a good use for the D12 and the D30; arbitrary dates. D12 designates the month, D30 the approximate time of month. Now if only there was a D24...

Bah! I was going to mention that because I thought it was quite clever. Glory thief.

However, since we don't have any d30's in our group (hey, that'd be a good thing to buy...), we just roll a d4 (reroll 4's) and a d10 for the day of the month.
