Fighter: Defender. Uses Weapon Talents to attack foes.
Paladin: Defender. Uses Weapons and Divine Blessing to further his faith.
Cleric: Leader. Uses divine magic to aid, buff, and heal allies.
Warlord: Leader. Uses Inspirational Auras to aid, buff, and heal allies.
Wizard: Controller. Uses arcane magic to destroy foes.
Druid: Controller. Uses Animals, Plants and Weather to control the battlefield.
Rogue: Striker. Uses urban skills and sneak attacks to wound foes.
Ranger: Striker. Uses wilderness skills and skirmishes to wound foes.
Except for maybe paladin, these are in fact also the classes I hope make it to the PHB1
Personally, I would like to see only 4 classes (the classic 4), and a hell of a lot of options between those....
