New WotC D&D DMing Survey

I was surprised they didn't have 'Swordmage' and 'Warforged' as options for the survey.

Those seem like pretty important parts of the 4e experience.

I found it strange that the question regarding how many sessions you run in a month capped out at 10.

Does anyone seriously care?

Someone mentioned it, so... obviously yes. I'm sorry that you find it strange that some people prefer older editions, and would like to not see them conflated?

I do not find it strange at all that some people prefer other editions. I find it odd that they would care that a company that hasn't ever produced anything for their game of choice (and does no longer even sell their products) conflate them with another older edition in a survey.

Edit: removed a slight snark, it wasn't needed.

Well, see, if you had said that, then you would've come off as a somewhat reasonable individual rather than a pompous jerk.

As an avid play by post player, I find the complete lack of anything mentioning that in the survey annoying. It also makes the "do you use a computer to..." questions weird, since the whole game is on the computer (but not a live MapTools kind of deal).

I found the survey useful actually.

I answered honestly, and I was also glad that they ahd questions for which products you own.

I have 4e PHB MM DMG and all the FR releases.

This survey, if people answer it honestly can also be a good indication to customers they have lost due to 4e.

For WOTC's market research purposes I think that is an irrelevant distinction. For WOTC's Market research I think even separating 1st/2nd edition is irrelevant.

Agreed. I suppose I should have been surprised that they didn't lump second and third in with the others as a single choice. Given that they don't want any data that supports the contention that people are playing anything but fourth IMO.
Not that, ultimately, it matters - as this means only marginally more than an internet poll.

I would assume, since they bothered to ask the question, they'd want some sort of meaningful response to the question. And conflating the two fairly different games, as well as possibly confusing those answering the poll is going to work against them actually getting a meaningful response to the question.
