New WotC Product: The Complete Warrior

You should go read the rant archives at Monte Cook's site. Some of them indeed don't play. Heck, from what Monte says, no-one at TSR played for some time.

I know, but as monte says "But this sort of "I don't actually play roleplaying games" comment is far more common from non-d20 and non-Wizards game professionals"

So, the d20/D&D people are far more likely to play than other game designers. As far as TSR goes, from what I understand of their work environment, I wouldn't want to play a game that reminded me of work either!

Many, if not most of the designers definately play regularly. After all most of them are credited as playtesters in various books, many of them have written about the campaigns that they run or play in on various websites and in the pages of Dragon and Dungeon.

Well.. with a name like the complete warrior, and the fact that warrior is a npc class.. I figure the book will be about warriors.. perhaps large amounts of warriors... doing things that only large amounts of warriors can do.. like war =)

Rules on mass combat perhaps? all those other things that would be great based on the number of times our group has been involved in wars?

I'm kinda looking forward to it. Even if it is just sword and fist 2, I'll probably buy it. I'm always looking for PrCs that fit my PCs.

Not that I can resist these things anyway, but I would love to see another book with some non-magical takes on things like wars, organizing parties, fighting styles, cultural implications, example organizations, more detailed weapons and their uses, how non-magic users deal with magic users socially and in other situations, etc etc etc...

There is always room for more. ;)

I think that if the book is going to cover things suchs as war, mass combat, seige tactics... things of that nature, then The Complete Warrior is a pretty awful and misleading name.

Furthermore, I hope the book is not about the NPC Warrior class either. There's a difference between a fighter and a warrior: warriors aren't special. They don't deserve their own book ESPECIALLY when Fighters had to share a book with another class.

I believe, and hope, that the book is actually a "fighter" classbook (Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Barbarian, Monk, Warrior). I hope its 224 pages, hardcover, and color. I hope it contains all the good, non-campaign specific PrCs and feats from the splatbook, and adds about 75% new content.

Warriors are watery fighters. I don't want a book specifically about them..it would be damned near useless since we use core classes for most NPCs anyway.

Well, I can't wait for Mongoose's follow-up, The Slayers Guide to Commoners...

Adepts are more inspirational.
Mongoose's Slayer's Guide to Adepts, AEG's Witchhunt, Green Ronin's Stakes & Pitchfork: A Guidebook to Adepts, and of course WotC's own splatook, Wicca & Weirdo.

I like the idea of a ultradetailed new book for each class. That way, the game gains a new layer of complexity, and capable DMs can choose, for each aspect of the game, how deep they want to go, from 'little' (PHB) to 'medium' (S&F-like splatbooks) to 'high' (the new warrior book). I hope this is the first of a series! :)

Yes yes, I happen to be one of those people who own ALL of the complete books. I even own the necromancers one just to finish out the collection.

All of 'em, huh? Even the Complete Book of Gladiators? Hard to find one of those.
