Keeping the promise of the "living book" philosophy, I've updated New York After Hours with some new material!

Version 2.0 of New York After Hours is now up. Visit my Web site and go to the News page (the link is listed under the news for April 14, 2003) to download the latest version:

http://www.chillingtales.com

Inside this first expanded edition of New York After Hours you'll find the following new material:
  • Appendix I: The Concrete Jungle - Life can be tough on the mean streets of the Big Apple. This appendix presents new rules to emulate that experience including a new starting occupation, Indigent, and two new feats, Street Smarts and Streetwise.
  • Appendix II: Deliver Us From Evil - Ever since I saw the movie The Lost Boys, I've always wanted to take on a pack of vampires with a Super Soaker® filled with holy water. This appendix presents new rules for using holy water in the modern world against the undead and evil outsiders - holy water as a splash weapon, vials of holy water as thrown weapons, a new modern spell named Bless Water for creating holy water, and weapon stats for holy water sprinklers and yes, pump-action water blasters!

Thanks again everyone for your support, and stay tuned - the adventures of Archie Beckman will continue soon!

What great horror plot hooks! I really love this little pdf supplement. Good design, great ideas, and nice execution.

I particularly like the Shadow Wolves and Kindergeist.

The Shadow Wolves are perfect additions to nearly any d20 Modern magic/horror game. A pack of these can be as easily dropped into a Shadow Chasers game as a Dark Inheritance campaign.

The Kindergeist is just a wonderful image of a modern vengeful spirit. What could be more hateful of the living than a baby or child that died from abandonment.

Excellent job. I really look forward to more.

Thanks for the kind words, Chad! :)

One thing I really love about the horror genre is that while the basic elements, themes and devices essentially stay the same, each new work that comes out (be it a novel, a movie, or a roleplaying game) also manages to add some new interesting twist to the terror while simultaneously taking the time to give "props" to the works that came before it. It's one of the few genres where being derivative can be a good thing on many levels - after all, becoming too comfortable with the familiar is one of those very devices that work so well in horror :)

BTW, I'm really looking forward to seeing Dark Inheritance - please feel free to drop me a line if you have any news from Mythic Dreams Studios that might be of interest to the folks who frequent my Web site or if I can ever be of other assistance. That's one of the reasons why Chilling Tales Horror Roleplaying is there :)

Thanks again!

Thanks bolen, I'm glad you can use it :)

I've been pleasantly surprised with all the emails I've been getting about NYAH - the response has been both helpful and encouraging, so keep an eye out for more. :)
