So what will be the next big step in the SRD? Psionics have seen some use through at least three products (and I'm hoping that they'll be included more in settings as time goes on) but I suspect that for various reasons, we won't see a lot of psionic based suspport. Rather, I think that what we'll see if a new emergence of support once a few more 'core' rule books become SRD. I'm specifically thinking Epic Level and Deities & Demigods.
The only real question is, how long will WoTC wait to make them SRD? Psionics was pretty quick but a few theories is that it was quick because this book wasn't the keen seller than the three core ones were.
While there are other books I've heard a few people make a wish list to be added, ala Oriental Adventurers and Manual of the Planes, I don't see the game mechanical need for such. Sure, it'd be great to have 'official' samurai, but in some instances, I think that companies waiting for things to become SRD may be missing out on making their own standard. Part of the problem is probably everyone reinventing the wheel. HOw many sets of rules do we need for swasbucklers, low tech guns, and siege weapons? Especially since siege weapons have some SRD stats.
One of the things I like about Monte is his willingness to redesign the core classes. Outside of Soverign Stone, I haven't seen too many Core Classes.
Instead of waiting for OA to become SRD, publishers might want to make their own Core Classes. Perhaps other publishers would then use them? I don't know. Rambling again I see... Where's the brain medicine damn it! Or is that the spelling medicine...
