NFL - Week 1

Man it's nice to have Priest Holmes on your fantasy team

Even nicer to have him on your real team... ;) If only he could play defense also...

Ugh, to be honest I don’t really blame the Defense for that loss... I honestly think that the chiefs’ offense, minus the priest and the O-Line, blew that game... The defense was actually playing better in the second half than the first half.

Oh well, winning in Denver has never been something the chief’s have done well or often for that matter... So all things consider I think the chiefs might be okay this year... :)

Well by "blew" if you meant "don't have any reliable receivers other than Gonzo", then yeah, I agree with you.

Gonzo was manhandled all game, and I expect other teams to do the same. Priest and Gonzo are the Chiefs whole offense. Teams don't have much luck stopping Priest but he can win it alone (as shown last night). Gonzo was double-teamed all night and was contained.

Of all of the disappointments out there though I would daresay that the Colts loss was high on the list. Vanderjagt is one of the best kickers in the game today and had a 40+ field goal streak going for him and he misses a 48 yarder that would have put it into OT. Tough loss. Condolences to all of my fellows whose teams lost in week 1.

This is going to be a problem all season. For those of you expecting last year's numbers from Trent Green, think again. Their receiving corps is as close to horrible as you can get, and probably the worst of the "contenders" for sure. Morton's injured, Kennison can't get free, and teams are finally treating Gonzo like a receiver on their coverage schemes.

I would trade Trent quick before his stock gets decommissioned.

Ya, the Colts lose was tough since they played some of the best football by a loosing team.

But its only week one, we still have 15 more games for each team. Lots of football. Go Steelers, hopefully they beat the Ravens this week!! :D

Dallas played well too. Vinny had 350 and 2 TDs! But I'm eagerly awaiting Week 2 so I can see if our defense really has crumbled into nothing, or if the Vikings were just unstoppable. It certainly wasn't confidence inspiring defense.

You, clearly, are not a Saints fan.

But yet I'm hopeful every year...

Ahh, what fools these mortals be... :p

Oh, yeah...

Geaux Saints!

Yeah pretty much, I do need to fix one thing I said... Their replacement for Tait, ROL, had issues but it was his first start with the team, and was also playing a new position... Consider that the whole OL could have been starting the Pro Bowl I have no doubt he was nervous as all get out...

As for our recervers, they are sad sacks indeed but he had all of them last year, the year before, and still managed to score the most points in the NFL so I don't buy it...

Al Saunders, the offense coordinator, is the one that really blew the game... His passing plays looked like junk and late first quarter and early second quarter he got away from running Priest Holmes...

Also Trent Green had one of the worst games of his career if you ask me.

Pats run D blew - and Ted Washington wouldn't have helped them much if his performance in the Raiders game was any indication. I'm glad the Pats bye week is early this year - they need, I think, some time either to work on Vince Wilfork some more, or, barring that, changing back to a 4-3.

Well Priest caught a lot of passes last year too. Priest is always the 3rd or 4th option. Green would look downfield and then if he had nothing, he would dump it off 5 yards to Priest who would get a lot of YAC. Now teams know they can play single coverage with the rest of the WR's.

But I'm eagerly awaiting Week 2 so I can see if our defense really has crumbled into nothing, or if the Vikings were just unstoppable

I think it's a little of both.

"Best football" and "losing" is an oxymoron IMO. The Colts just aren't as good as the Pats. Period. End of story. Was it a close game? Absolutely. But as Belichik said, in some games, the whole game is decided on 3-4 plays. YOu can play 59 minutes but the game is decided in the last one. And that's where the Pats excel. They are the best coached and metally tough team in the NFL, hands down. Brady is also the most clutch and cool under pressure QB in the league as well. Manning might put up better numbers but he can't win the Big Game. His stat is usually inflated as well because there are always 2-3 games in the season that he goes off and throws 5 TD's. Then there are others where he throws 3 Int's and a 150 yds.
