NHL Playoffs, Round One!

Well, It's not like we've never seen them snatch "near defeat" from the jaws of "certain victory" before:)

How the :):):):) do you blow a four-goal lead in the playoffs?

You couldn't even blame rookie Goaltender Alex Auld...he was great!

Auld needs to protect his five-hole better, but he'll learn. We have a bad habit of giving up strings of bad goals when a lucky one gets in. That needs to change. They don't make it easy on us fans. :-)

But regardless of our near-game losing collapse, it was incredibly entertaining hockey and a joy to watch. Though someone needs to debark Greg Millen.

No, but since all the "important" series were on today and the Isles played last night I actually got to watch them play for once (a rarity for any Isles fan outside NYC).

Not if you live in or near Albany, where you get FSN NY and MSG (though they've been blacking out a lot of games the last few years). Not bad for a Flyers fan either, since we get Rangers, Devils, and Isles games, biggest problem with it is that most of their games I see are against rivals and good teams so I see them lose as often as not.

If you didn't see the game last night, there was some wierdness. The Isles first goal was missed by the goal judge and Koharski waved it off for some reason even though it was very clearly a goal. Play went on for another two minutes. When they finally got a whistle, the goal was reviewed and awarded to them. A few minutes later, the Islander's goalie sat on the puck but Koharski called it a goal.

I saw the non-goal goal, it was in and out so fast I don't blame them to much for waving it off.

The other one I missed somehow, I forget what I was doing though.

THANKS PHILLY

You're welcome, I'm just glad they didn't collapse, of course there's still plenty of time for that.

And wasn't that just an unbelievable Calgary-Vancouver game tonight? Whoo!

Awesome game, I started rooting for the Canucks just so there would be a game seven, I just hope the two of them don't let me down.

How's the Boston Pizza up there in BC?

YAAAAA ! ! !

Against all odds, my beloved did it. Came back from a 3 to 1 loosing streak to win in 7. Unbeleivable.

The habs are not the team they once were. This is quite an achievement.

Next step: Tampa Bay (friday). the Lightning is a VERY strong team, and I do not expect we will beat them.

That said, I didn't expect tonight's wipe out either !

:D

The Bruins played an awesome match tonight. The first two periods were tied ziltch. I was on the edge of my seat. Great series !

:\ :( :\ :( ing Canucks.

I can't even get mad anymore. These are the Canucks, and this is the game they have to offer.

Doesn't mater though. If they were having such trouble with lunchboxers like Calgary, they weren't going to stand a chance in the second round anyhow.

Season over. Again.

Calgary may be a team of lunchboxers, but they got 94 points in the regular season. Not a bad team by any reasonable measure.

Still, my heart's broken - again.

I'm a Canucks fan, but I want to take a moment to thank the Philidelphia Flyers for eliminating the graceless, unexciting, do-it-cheaply-as-possible New Jersey Devils from the playoffs and ensuring that I won't have to watch them at any point from here on out.

Eh, New Jersey at least has the excuse that their team is built for the all trap, all the time style and wouldn't have much success doing anything else. The real crime is the Ottawa Senators, a team with tons of youth, speed, talent, and skill that still plays a game-killing style 80% of the time or more. Jacques Martin should be ashamed of himself.

I suppose I should also reserve some bile for Pat Quinn, for forgetting that the Leafs got 103 points largely by playing an offensive game. I can partially forgive him for switching to a trapping game given Sundin and Nolan are out and a few other guys are playing hurt, but it still galls.
