I love that they're really starting to put out a reasonable number of mounted figures. :)
I would like the mounted ones better if they had corresponding unmounted ones like the Snig/Wolf Mounted Snig. Much more useful that way (at least for RPG play).

I really hate to poo-poo on all this, but looking through the pics has made me realize how much I'd rather just buy a bunch of paints and buy sets of what I want. Not a single one of those minis were real "wows" for me.

I just like REAPER minis so much more.

I love Reaper minis. I just lack the time, skill and patience to paint. That makes these heaven sent for me. This is a nice set. Not the greatest ever, but not a ton of clunkers, either.

I don't see the point of the Dread Wraith having a sword when he doesn't have one listed in his stats in the MM.
From the SRD: "In some cases, the grim silhouette of a wraith might appear armored or outfitted with weapons. This appearance does not affect the creature’s AC or combat abilities but only reflects the shape it had in life."

So it's because that particular dread wraith carried a sword around when it was alive.

But "because it looks cool!" works for me too ;)

And, come to think of it, I think that the Harbinger wraith also carried a sword. (I'd get up and check, but I'm currently pinned by my cat.)

I'm sure you have some skeletons, human foot soldiers and orcs in your collection somewhere....

The monitor is fine.

Dread Wraith, Bluespawn Ambusher, Brass Golem, Darkmantle, Earth Mephit, Ice Mephit, Noble Salamander, Shadow, Large Shadow Dragon, Large White Dragon, and Verdant of the Reaver look like they were dipped in a vat. Greater Barghest, Chaos Beast, Dire Tiger, and the Gold Dragon ain't no great shakes, either. I'd expect that from a bunch of $1/.bag army men, but to do large rares with such low quality is pretty poor, IMO.

A few look exceptional, and several are hard to tell without being able to look at them in 3d, but there's nothing here to make me reconsider buying anything but singles.

Simmer down there Tex - I'm not saying you must like all of them. Several of the ones you list, however, are commons and uncommons - I never expect awesome paint jobs - just decent which all of those are. The Gold dragon i agree the colour is too lemon yellow and not gold yellow. But the Chaos Beast? Noble Salamander, Large White Dragon, Greater Barghest?? if those are the worst ones in the set this is possibly the greatest set ever produced. :p

Is this the standard set-up? Buy a box, you're guaranteed one large critter? Because, I like the large ones... for some reason, they see a bit of use at my table.

If someone will come to my house and paint my 400+ unpainted Ral Partha, Reaper and Games Workshop minis for free then I agree. Also with these I never worry about tossing them around the table to get the players to help set up a fight. Or to punish the disobedient :]
