I highly recommend using one of the trading sites such as Maxminis or Hordelings in addition to buying singles from Ebay. I won't really have much need for extra Dracotaurs, for instance, and would be willing to part with them for more of the miniatures that I *do* want.

Huh, I agree with the author. I'd like to have 3-4 dracotaurs. They are, after all, a CR 3 monster usually found in groups. It seems like the kind of rare that goes for $6-$9 on the secondary market.

And dragonspawn? I don't mind them. The green one looks very much like a classed lizardfolk, the other one is a blue and I love blue dragons. I have to give the author credit for admitting that not everyone likes dragonspawn, but you can't make everyone happy.

I really like this set a lot. There are a lot of solid monsters in the uncommons, and nice common figures I didn't have access to before.

I am still trying to get a Large Black Dragon for less than $20. I even have good minis to trade for it but no one is interested.

Yeah, unfortunately trading doesn't work in every instance. The Large Black Dragon is prized by both D&D and DDM players alike, so it's a pretty hard one to get cheaply or for a decent trade.

I was lucky enough to get 2 Black Dragons in the boosters I opened. I traded the second one for some other rares that I wanted. I was also fortunate enough to get a Beholder Lich. Those seem even harder to get than the LBD.

The Beholder Lich is one of the extras I have that I am trying to trade for the LBD. Oh well soon I will just sell it and turn around and get the black dragon. I just like the idea of trading better.

I think if you sell the Beholder Lich and buy the LBD you will end up ahead financially. I imagine that more people want multiples of the LBD than the Beholder Lich. That's probably why they are so hard to come across.

The minis line not doing well? The minis line is about two sets away from building a giant sailing ship out of money and setting course for Solid Gold Island, as far as I'm aware.

(And I quite like Night Below actually. Crummy couple of previews this week, but the complete set is pretty impressive and generally useful)
