Nimblewright Swiftblade

Really, the thread subject says it all.

I was surfing around and was somehow reminded of the Nimblewright... I totally forgot about that thing! It's a 3e MMII intelligent construct that wields dual rapiers and can cast haste and disguise self at will (and some other jazz). Combine that with the Swiftblade PrC and you have some wicked nastiness.

The only problem with the Nimblewright is that it has 10 HD, +6 LA, and no Con score, so it's a 16th level character with about 55 hitpoints on average. Not really anything that's going to survive any kind of normal D&D adventure.

There's no real point to this post other than to say a Nimblewright Swiftblade is about the coolest PC concept I've heard of in a long time. I wonder if I can tweak the Nimblewright down in power and up in survivability to make it actually playable in a regular campaign. That would just be too damn fun.

One of my players in my PbP (my wife actually) is playing a Nimblewright. Take a gander at the 3.5 update file for MMII. It ups the Nimblewright's average hit points to 75 thanks to the bonus hit points constructs get due to their size. The problem I see with a Nimblewright Swiftblade is that the Swiftblade ups caster level, which the base nimblewright doesn't have. You'd have to give it a level of a spellcasting class in order for the casting part of the PrC to be useful. Also, the PrC requires proficiency with a martial weapon, which the nimblewright also does not have. Their rapiers are actually a part of their body and are considered natural weapons. So, you'd have to spend a feat on a martial WP, or take a level in a class that gives you one. So, a nimblewright with a level in bard solves both problems.

Nate-

Could you work backwards to create a level progression chart to use it as a playable character? There are several books now (Libris Mortis and Dragonomicon, at least) that have examples for LA races that way.

Um, now that you mention it...I did just that for my PbP. See attached. :D

Edit: grr, my attachment isn't attaching. Let me try again. Oops, I see, it's not letting me attach, because I already have it attached in my PbP thread...except I don't know how to link to there. Grumble. Let's do this instead....
