[NJ, DE, PA and even VA, NY and all points East!] Shorecon [ENworld gathering]

Definitely plan on being there.

I don't get to go to the "big" cons and wish I could do one of those large EN World gatherings.

I think an EN World gathering at the attached pub would be a great idea. Count me in.

Azure Trance, it's not that far. A bunch of us from Long Island are going to be there. Then again, if you're not into the RPGA "Living" campaigns, I can see how it loses some appeal.

I'll try and stop by the site one of these days (since I'm so local) to see if the pub needs reservations for larger groups, especially when cons are in the Clarion. If so, I can make the necessary reservations once we get close and have a semi-concrete number...

Right now, Valanthe has the capacity to make up to 50 badges for the gathering, so as we get closer, I'll make a list of folks who we'll make badges for.

At this point, I'm planning on running some sort of game ad-hoc on Saturday for ENworld folks, if they're interested. At the moment, I'm leaning towards an adventure out of Dungeon or possibly a mini-game from Polyhedron. If you're interested in such, let me know.

Badges are good. Have to take a look at the event schedule to see when a pick-up game works though.

Out of curiosity, who's going to ShoreCon primarily for the RPGA Living Campaigns (Living Greyhawk, Living Arcanis, etc.)?

I'm considering getting involved in Living Aracnus... but need more input from players and dms as to how it is.

I haven't played in Living Arcanis yet, though many of my gaming group swear by it. If you have any experience with Living Greyhawk, it was described to me as being more deadly, more role-playing intensive and more internally consistent than LG. One of my friends made the comment "If you read the book [the Codex Arcanis], it actually matters!". In comparison, if you never open up the Living Greyhawk Gazetter, it wouldn't really impact the outcome of the event. In LA, knowledge of the game world will make a difference.

I'm going to have a new character ready for play. I may be able to get one or two events in before ShoreCon, but I'll be 2nd level tops by the con.

I'll be avoiding 'Living' events, most likely. I'm not sure what my RPGA status is, but the last time I went to a LG event (at Shorecon, 2 years ago) I didn't necessarily have a terrible experience, but it wasn't good. Meanwhile, my wife and friends were off having a ball in a non-LG game. I got to teach the DM what the difference between Total Defense and Attacking Defensively was. They got to beat the snot out of Frost Giants.

Phooey. :)

This being my first "real" Con, I've never had the opportunity to play non-Living events at an organized event. At the monthly gameday my group used to run, it was only Living Greyhawk and Living Dragonstar.

I hadn't really planned on playing in a non-Living event, but make take a slot or two to check it out. Any suggestions?
