No Babylon 5 Movie

I'd put this in the news forum, but I don't know the rules to that (and it hasn't shown up on a web-site yet.) Here's the link to JMS's post: http://www.jmsnews.com/msg.aspx?id=1-17289

I just got the e-mail from the JMS News group. Over a year ago, a company approached Joe Michael Straczynski about the possibility of making a movie. He wrote a script entitled The Memory of Shadows and turned it in two days after Christmas in 2003. An interesting note is that JMS does own the rights to any B5 movie that could be made. So this wasn't through Warner Brothers.

Speaking of WB, they won't finance the movie unless it had big name stars, so JMS and the company were on their own to find financiers because the studio in question was not going to take the financial reins directly. There were times it seemed like a deal was about to be reached, but it continually fell apart. However, in December 2004 the option ended...but JMS renewed it without cost to try to get the deal in place.

Anyhow, according to JMS now, it seems there's no chance of a financial deal being reached, and so the movie is dead-ended. JMS seems optimistic that there will be a B5 movie someday, but it doesn't seem soon now.
