No Conan 3.

The only two movies w/Arnold I was waiting for are Conan 3 & Crusade, since the latter was already pretty much dead that left only C3.

I cant really imagine the Rock as Conan either. At this stage in his career IMHO the Rock is playing the Rock in every movie regardless of role.
I'm gonna disagree with this. I think The Rock, with alittle help and GOOD direction, would make a great Conan. He has presence, He more or less looks the part and if he leaves the wrestling persona behind and take the role seriously, it'd be great!

I'm not going to insult anyone here by chanting Sorbo over and over again.

Seriously, I can't think of another actor I would rather have playing Conan than Arnold, so if we have to wait a few years, I'm cool with it. This had better be at the top of his list by then though.

I'll be honest - Arnold does NOT need to be in another Terminator movie. If they do a 4th one, they can use CGI to replicate the CSM101's with skin - because I feel that yet another movie with an "emotional" terminator is just warping the concept too much. Better for any future story to focus on John and Kate, and their struggles in putting together the human resistance, or something to that effect. The story was about the machine before - it needs to be about the man now.
Agreed. My main reason, though, is that I think having John capture and reprogram any more Terminators is sketchy at best. Skynet sending upgrades after John I can deal with. Having Arnold return as the hero everytime is a bit thin.

If he ever does make it back to the series, though, I think he should play the villain again. Just because John is used to the T800 (?) being his protector now. Not my top choice for the show, bit the best option I can think of that includes Arnold.

The end of Conan 2 where Conan turns down the kingdom was especially bad. The real Conan would never have turned down a kingdom.

I think the REH Conan did turn down a kingdom. I think it was in Black Colossus, you'll have to excuse me if I get it wrong, I read them all at once and they blur into each other. The reasoning was he wanted to earn it, rather than be given it as a "dowry".

The first Conan movie's great. From what I remember it does differ a lot from the books, but works really well and keeps the "best" bits. The problem with any direct conversion from the books is that the pulp short stories and films have very different demands. Some stuff works okay on the page but would be absolutely awful on film. The second is so-so, but I'd still rather there be more not-very-good films of the same type. There's not many watchable, but not-very-good, fantasy films. We could do with more.

You got me there, both movies did have great soundtracks.

Really, both movies have the same soundtrack, slightly rearranged for the sequel. I don't thin Basil Poldouris actually worked on Destroyer.

I should also mention that I haven't liked anything by deLaurentis at all anyway, he mixes bad ideas with bad scripts to produce something less than the sum of its parts. (Come on people, this is the guy who brought us King Kong Lives where they fit the big ape with an artificial heart! (He then goes beserk, go figure...)

While it's true that Dino has done some pretty rotten movies, he's also produced:

Army of Darkness
Manhunter (Michael Mann)
Dune (David Lynch)
The Bounty (Mel Gibson/Anthony Hopkins - great movie.)
Ragtime (James Cagney's last film)
Three Days of the Condor
Death Wish
Serpico
Waterloo (The Rod Steiger version - another great movie)
Barbarella

Plus both Conan films. A number of these, while not exactly cinematic classics, are both fun and very memorable films.

I'd disagree; Conan as he was written by Robert E. Howard was proud, independent, chuvanistic, and self-reliant. I doubt that he'd agree to become "Mr. Queen" no matter who the woman was.

The event you are referring to didn't happen in any of REH's Conan stories. It happened in the novel Conan the Buccaneer by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter.

While the novel was entertaining, when I think of Conan, I only think of two things: The first movie which was written & directed by John Milius and starred Arnold Shwarznegger, and the stories written by Robert E. Howard. I've noticed that de Camp and the others tend to write Conan as being too civilized, while Howard's Conan is just as savage as you'd expect from a barbarian.

I don't think I would list either of these movies as "good" selling points for a producer. In point of fact, I would hide the fact that I was associated with them if I were Dino.

Yup. 100%. It's odd to me that the one character in the second movie that actually captures that feeling seems to get bad marks from most folks. I think Grace had the right spirit and suffered from a poor script.
