No Conan 3.

Just please, by all the gods in the heavens, if they start the franchise over again, don't let them use the guy from the TV show. He was big, but he was god-awful.
The Rock I think would do a pretty good job, if he got into the role. He gets a bad rap, but the man does have some acting ability beyond wrestling.

I somewhat agree. The guy from the TV show was horrible... as Conan. On the other hand, he did a good job in Gladiator. Without that stupid wig, he didn't look like such a freak, and his acting wasn't that bad. Lets face it, there wasn't a single positive thing that can be said about the Conan TV show. It should have had a regular cast of 1 with very few recurring villains rather than the same one showing up again and again and again.

As for the Rock, I'm not so much in favor of him as Conan. While I liked him as the Scorpion King, there's nothing about him that seems like Conan to me. I could see Vin Diesel (who originally was considered to play COnan's son), but I read at scifi.com about a week or so ago that the wrestler triple H was the front runner for the role and that the movie under consideration is still Conan: Crown of Thorns. Honestly I don't even have a clue whether or not he would do justice to the role since I'm not familiar with him.

Ralf Moeller (sp?)? I don't have any problem with him doing a Conan movie. I have painful memories of the TV show too, but I think given a good script, good direction and a good budget (all of which the TV show lacked), I think he could probably pull it off.

Triple H just married Vince McMahan's daughter this last weekend, he's the present "Golden Boy" of the WWE, just hit any wrestling website and you will see a dozen or so "HHH is ruining wrestling" articles. He has been trying to break into Hollywood for a while now but has pretty much been shot down every time: http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/newsboard.php?news_id=7642 so now the WWE is producing their own movie and guess who is writing it ..... John Milius: http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/newsboard.php?news_id=7674

Milius was considering Triple H for Conan's son last year: http://www.411mania.com/movies/news/article.php?news_id=1356
And he is considering him for both young and old Conan now: http://www.411mania.com/movies/news/article.php?news_id=4316

Triple H also got a role in Blade Trinity: http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/newsboard.php?news_id=7469

It seems that once he actually got his foot in the door he might have a chance at a career as 'Thug no. 2" in Hollywood: http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/newsboard.php?news_id=7890

So the moral of that story.... marry the boss's daughter and doors will start opening for you.

Conan 2 and Red Sonja were mediocre, primarily because of bad plots and minimal acting. The end of Conan 2 where Conan turns down the kingdom was especially bad. The real Conan would never have turned down a kingdom.

I believe that in the Conan stories, he was given such a offer to rule by the side of a beautiful queen. He turned it down of coarse, as he didn't want to become the "boyfriend of the queen" and that he wanted to gain a kingdom by his own hand.

I'm not going to insult anyone here by chanting Sorbo over and over again.

Seriously, I can't think of another actor I would rather have playing Conan than Arnold, so if we have to wait a few years, I'm cool with it. This had better be at the top of his list by then though.

Hmm,

What about Vin Diesel? He's big, mean, and bulky like Arnold and doesn't have the Austrian accent, which is the one thing that annoyed me about the first movie (since Conan's father didn't have an Austrian accent when he was talking to Conan about steel). Also, Vin likes barbarians...which means he would probably throw all he had into the part.

I would have to see what he looks like in the Conan wig before I answer that.

I thought Vin Diesel was supposed to take over Conan. Or do a son of Conan or something.

Personally, I'd like to see that happen.

He was originally going to play Conan's son in the next movie. The thing to keep in mind though is that
Conan's only son gets killed.
