Just wanted to wish all of you who where going a happy and safe trip. Roll a few dice for me. :)

Sorry to hear that. The friend I was going with bailed on me just yesterday, and so I considered not going as well, since my hotel costs have suddenly doubled. But then I thought, heck, this is my first con, and I really, really, really want to go. (And hubby said, why not go, since you want to so bad?)

So screw the money. I'm going all the same.

I am thinking about driving 3 hours on Saturday and then leaving that night. I really like the showroom, looking at all of the products, talking to the designers etc, but I am not sure I want to do 6 hours all in one day. PC would be sad at me because I would drive home late at night yawning all the way. I think it is the cost that is stopping me. It would be $100 just to look in the showroom.

Now if someone from the Chicago area wants to split gas and parking and does not mind leaving around 7 AM and returning that same night, I can give you a ride.

I feel your pain, Mapleaxe.
I went 3 years ago. I loved it. It was one of the best times I've had. But every year since I've been either too poor or haven't had a cheap way to get there. Someday.....

In an odd bit of irony, my wife's grandmother (God bless her)passed away this morning, so we may be making a road trip this weekend anyways.

(For the curious, she was 95 and had been in and out for most of the last year or so. While we're a bit sad about it, we're also relieved that she won't be suffering anymore.)

Could be worse you could live in the UK where I've been going since it started but won't be going next year or the year after or maybe ever again since they have cancelled the whole event.

Edit: Whoops hadn't read your recent post, obviously I'm not saying that a convention being cancelled is worse than your wife's grandmother passing away. Well it is for me but hey I never met her and assume she had a good innings, for you and your wife its obviously different. :(
