Blue Devil games is also PDF though they have recently started to release some books in print. 3 PDF companies out of 11 publishers selected is actually pretty darn good.

That's what I thought. I tried very hard not to let it influence any decisions, but I was hoping it would be the kind of book that would offer you good stuff from the known names as well as the smaller guys. I'm happy how that turned out.

Overall, though, I was expecting more submissions, specifically pdf submissions. I mean, we had all the "usual suspects" (WotC, Green Ronin, Necromancer, etc.) but few of the pdf only crowd. Given my own personal affection for pdfs, that was kind of disappointing. I can only assume that they either didn't know about it or felt intimidated because of the liklihood of the "bigger names" involved. That's a shame. Nevertheless, I'm really pleased with the resultant material and happily stand behind all of it. It's good stuff, and would do well in anyone's game. If nothing else, it's a list of designer names to keep a lookout for.

I'd guess that there were probably about twice as many products submitted as there are represented. Maybe a bit more than that. I don't remember, and further, I've no intention of pointing out material that didn't make it. That's not the point of this at all.

I wouldn't even think to ask since it should be a private matter between you and those that submitted material.

I had wanted to submit but the deadline caught me while I was in the process of moving. I hope the book's successful for you (and the contributors) and that it's worth trying again in the future.

Monte, so how was the experience in doing this? Was it tough to figure out what was the best? Is this something we can exopect to see again next year?

Well,

I think most of the smaller publishers out there just wait to see who contributed and how the product is accepted by the crowd.
If it turns out to be successfull, I think, if Monte does the Best of 05´next year, he will have a lot more stuff to choose from.
So I hope this will be successfull, Monte will do it again next year and gets buried under submissions...

Anyone got any comments or reviews of it?

I'm only one "Yeah, its not bad" remark away from buying the pdf, I just need that little extra nudge.
