They are pretty good takes on two fairly popular archetypes: the magic-using trickster and the fighter-mage that is more fighter than mage.
Yes, as Firelance says. To my knowledge, they are the best base classes for those two archetypes that exist, to date. Sure, you can multiclass and pull off a reasonable facsimile, but there is something thrilling and wonderful about being able to play the concept you envision from day 1 without having to start as some other concept first (often the Fighter without any magic or knowledge of the arcane or spellcraft for the Fighter/Mage, which is kind of upsetting).

Looks like the Duskblade will make the cut. Warlock and Scout are a given, anyways. If any of those doesn't make the final three, the poll is obviously screwed. :D ;) :p

Bye

Death to the beguiler!

Seriously, break the class down into its component parts and you'll find that the beguiler is nothing more than a bard that can't sing in exchange for WORSE combat ability and saves and a few kinda-cool-but-not-really spell "tricks".

Feh, I say.

Given the current state of the poll, it could still go in any direction - it all depends upon where the anti-psionics voting block turn their attentions in the final two rounds, as it looks like they're finally bringing enough pressure to bear to eliminate the Psion and Psychic Warrior.

The fact that the Beguiler and Duskblade still remain means I'll have to take a serious look at the Player's Handbook II. What's the deal, are they that good?

If a psychic class has to go, then let it be the Psychic Warrior go first. I'm having trouble choosing at the this point.

As long as folks keep their paws off my Warlock...I'm good.

I see the beguiler as a rogue with combat ability replaced with illusion and enchantment sorcerer spells. Basically, he's a character that can sneak and charm his way better through tight spots and avoids combat. My new favorite class, replacing the rogue. I like roleplaying the sneaky guys and avoiding a fight. I think it's different enough to earn respect.
