It's not cheating. As I said, I don't really like any of the non-psionic classes left at this point, though I least dislike the Duskblade of the current non-psionic crop. But I don't think the Psion and Psychic Warrior deserve all the hate being directed against them. They're the only classes left at this point that I actually like.
Re: Aexalon
Maybe because sorcerers have more raw power and access to more/better prestige classes? Maybe because there are a lot of cool additions and variants for sorcerers in numerous 3.5 books compared to the almost nonexistent additions and variants for psions? With errata for several of the powers that slipped through the initial editing, the psion isn't really more powerful than the sorcerer, generally. And there are STILL things that a psionic character can't do but an arcane caster CAN do. Besides, sorcerers are even more overpowered if you use books like Complete Arcane or Spell Compendium. Psionics gets hardly any support, so it doesn't have any equivalent additions of ever-more-powerful abilities. Complete Psionic instead had the errata for some XPH powers that had slipped through the editors' net the first time around.
Edit: Besides, it's not like the psion stands much chance of surviving this round anyway, by the looks of it.
