Non-Core Heal rules?

I'm looking for some alternative healing rules for a low magic campaign. I'm not really looking to change the HP or damage system, I'm just looking for rule sets that speed up healing by non-magical means (e.g. with the Heal skill).

Anyone know of some sources I should check out?

Paladins could go around laying-on-hands. You could make a salve that does the equivalent of cure minor or cure light wounds (a la the potion variants in the Complete Arcane).

Well, I wrote up some non-magical healing potions that could be made form herbs once. The idea was that I could 'give' the party healing by having them find more of the herbs. Then, a PC with herbalist or healing would make the "potions".

The potions were just like magical ones (as PHB) but they only healed one point per hour for (so a CLW would heal one point per hour for 1D8+1 hours) and the person had to be under the care of someone with the healing skill (as PHB) for the healing to happen.

Maybe you could do something similar

In the epic level book they have healing for high checks. You could just use the same idea but at a lower check. In brief here is what they do:

DC 50 grants hp as if resting for a day, and it takes one hour to heal them
DC 100 grants hp as if resting for a full week and it also take 1 hour to heal.

In either of the cases, you can only use one on a person per day, and you cannot use both in the same day.

You couls easily allow these at a lower DC, but increase the time required from 1 hour to 3 or 4 hours. Mabe even up the DC by 10 or 20 points for every hour they want to cut off, to a minimum of 1 hour.

I have a simple rule for low-magic settings, adapted from Conan d20: If recipient is above 0 hp, a DC 15 Heal check (taking 10 minutes) restores up to twice the _recipient's_ level in hit points, to a maximum of 1 hp less than what they had before they were wounded (a sequence of wounds, eg in a battle, counts as one wounding event). So if Althea binds the wounds of Bing the Fighter-6 he gets up to 12 hp back, but if he only took 11 damage he can get at most 11-1 = 10 hp back. If he then takes another 8 damage she can heal up to 7 hp of that, leaving Bing with 2 hp less than he started the day.

That sounds interesting. And I'll check out Conan d20 as well. Thanks!
