Non-D20 popular here?

I currently run a D&D 3E game and may soon run an Into the Shadows campaign (a free rpg using the D6 (WEG) system, a great CoC alternative), but I love rpgs of just about any ilk. Among the systems that I have played:

Rolemaster/Spacemaster/Cyberspace
Fuzion (I Love Fuzion)
GURPS (Supers, Fantasy, Cyberpunk, Vampire, Werewolf, Aeon, etc..)
Storyteller (Vamp, Were, Mage, Changeling) NOT my fave!
All versions of d&d
Chaosium's Games (CoC, Stormbringer, Elric, Hawkmoon, Pendargon, etc...)
The D6 Games (Torg, Stwar Wars, Ghostbusters, Shatter Zone)
Traveller (original, Mega and the later version)
Gamma World ( 1st thru 4th )
Most, if not all Palladium Games (Rifts, Fantasy, Nijas and Superspies, TMNT, RObotech, Beyond the Supernatural, etc..)
DC (mayfairs version), Marvel (original), etc...etc...etc...

I counted all of the games i played at one time and it was damn near 200! Geez, I'm a dork!

Currently we use actively D&D 3E, Shadowrun 3E, and Star Wars D6.

Other gamesystems we use, or used:
  • AD&D 2E
  • Shadowrun 2E
  • Star Wars d20
  • Wheel of Time d20
  • Rolemaster
  • GURPS
  • Full Thrust
  • Couple of other systems we tried, but can't recall their names

Currently I'm running Rokugan d20. Aside from that, every other game I run will be non d20. I'm just not a fan of classes and levels. I like a system with far less limitations.

I'd like to play in other systems (Godlike in particular), but the only non-D20 game I'm in is 1e AD&D. That's unlikely to change since our campaigns are the kind that don't end, we don't have much time, and gaming isn't really the main hobby for any of us. Any excess space in the schedule gets eaten up by non-RPG games.

I only play and run d20, but that's simply because it's what my group is used to and we don't have enough time to learn another system. I'm passably familiar with Alternity and Storyteller because I have several of the books (Dark*Matter is wonderful for Alternity, and I have Werewolf and Mage 2e and Aeon--Trinity if you prefer...) but have never really played them because I'm kept busy with the regular D&D game. Someday...someday. LOL

What I Play: Exalted, bi-weekly on Sundays. My character is a Dawn caste Solar Exalted; he is equal parts Seijuro Hiko, Zechs Marquis, Allen Schezar and Himura Kenshin and he's a golden god in battle.

What I Run:
  • Mage: The Ascension: This campaign is about to end after three years of monthly play. The Ascension War is about to end, and not in that lameass copout crap that's in the canon. No, there will be a permanent, final and decisive battle to determine who wins control of Reality; the strongest will shall prevail.
  • Feng Shui: This campaign runs monthly. The PCs just finished the World Martial Arts Tournament, where Iori Yagami won the prize of a private lesson from the legendary Mr. Draco; they have yet to learn that it was all a ruse to power the Zero Cannon and blow up a Godzilla-sized demon with god-like power, and now they get to deal with Project Mayhem.

On Deck for the Future: My Middle-Earth D&D campaign launches in January of 2003, when the last of the people that I recruited for it becomes available to play. I'll post more about this one at a later date.

My first choice in a system is the 7th Sea RPG. I really like the character possibilities, and I think the game mechanics are great. IMHO, it's the best game on the market. I think the rules are pretty simple, yet detailed enough to give lots of choices. I also feel like the rules encourage role playing and character development. Once you've created a character, the GM has lots of options for a story. And each character can be a springboard for ideas. To me the game takes everything that's fun about role and accentuates it, while at the same time eleminating the monotonous or dull.
