Non-Epic shields - +20 max?

Normally an item has a +10 enhancement maximum (5 and 5) before becoming Epic, so you could have a Large Shield +5 of Heavy Fortification (+5) for a total of +10. But you can also enchant a shield for attack. That enchantment is explicitly seperate. So, on the aforementioned shield, could you have Bashing +5, Holy Avenger (+5)? What if they were spikes on the shield?

I'd firmly rule this out - such an item should be Epic - but it's legal by the RAW. I woudn't mind a Shield +5, Bashing +5. What do you think?

The spikes are not a separate weapon; they simply change your heavy shield into a heavy spiked shield.

Holy Avenger is a specific longsword; you can't (at least, using just the Core rules) make a shield into a Holy Avenger. But your shield (with or without Spikes) might be +5 Vicious Wounding Flaming Burst, say.

I believe that if it costs more than 200,000 gp it is an epic item.

This is true:
In general, an item with even one of these characteristics is an epic magic item.

Has a market price above 200,000 gp, not including material costs for armor or weapons, material component- or experience point-based costs, or additional value for intelligent items.

However, it doesn't affect the price:

MARKET PRICE
Use the guidelines for nonepic magic items to determine the market price of an epic magic item, with one addition: If the item gives a bonus beyond the limit allowed for normal, nonepic magic items, multiply the portion of the market price derived from that characteristic by 10.

None of the bonuses are beyond the limit allowed for nonepic items, so the market price is unaffected.

You would, however, arguably require the Craft Epic Arms and Armor feat to add whatever ability pushed the price over 200,000.
