For GM's day, please tell us about the itme you most enjoyed the Rat Bastard moments of your favorite GMs.

Feel free to name names or protect the innocent but let us know how much fun you have had being bent, broken, beaten, bounced, bound, burned, blanked and basted.

umm

I don' t know what illegitimi or Muridae mean ...

Well, it will prolly sound quite tame compared to what I'm sure will be horrific tails of unimanigable basiching of PCs, but:

We were playing RttToEE and we got to ... the inner fane? I dunno where, but there was a couple of fiendish tyrranusaurs. Those familiar with it may know where I'm talking about. While fighting one of them, my character got swallowed whole. He managed to cut his way out in a single round, but was prone. The tyrannusaur looked down and my char ghot swallowed whole again.

It's not so much RB to me; I thought it was rather funny. The magic users, however, suffered some serious damage with my char out of the way of that things very potent attacks.

Oh, and I'd like to say: SFGiants was my (very good) GM. Under noone else have I had PCs die so much.

I remember a pair of traps that were paticularly nasty. Rogue and paladin standing in the hallway. Trap goes off, firing crossbow bolt at rogue. He's allowed a Ref save to get out of the way. He makes it. Paladin now has to do the same to keep from getting hit. Paladin makes it. Crossbow bolt hits a mirror, which was holding up several containers of alchemist fire set to spill into the room. Paladin, on the ground after ducking the bolt is now on fire.

Paladin later opens a door and falls into a pit trap. My wizard manages to get a quick feather fall on him to save him from the damage. Too bad the pit was filled with poisonous gas, which the paladin now slowly floated through...

Illegitimate child == bastard.
Muridae == rodent.

The thread title roughly translate as "non-bastard rats".

I never played under this DM for very long, but I heard stories about one of my first DM's favorite traps. It would be a metal staircase, but if you stepped on one of the steps (the third from the top in the story I heard), the stairs would fold back into a smooth ramp, and the floor below the stairs opened up into a meatgrinder. A big meatgrinder.

Ever since that day so many years ago, I have aspired to reach that rat-bastard level. I think I've succeeded, once or twice.

Demiurge out.
