Non magical arrow fired form a magical bow: are they considered magical?

Ahh. I thought it was clearly spelled out since as written, bows do the damage, and arrows do not. ( Not from a logic standpoint, but from the rules standpoint when you went to check how much damage an attack did. ) I don't factor in previous rules sets into my readings of rules because they are different rules entirely and while there may be holdovers from previous editions they are each their own entity and there is usually too much change to rely on previous rules for rulings.

People are accustomed to whatever set of rules they first started playing on. I go back to 1st edition.

And in this case, the rule remained unchanged across at least three and a half editions (I don't know about 4e, I gave it a miss).

Bows, crossbows, slings do not cause the damage- the ammo does. It is listed as the weapon though since it assumes that you need to shoot it rather than swinging a bow like a staff. I guess you could argue that the ammo needs to be magic, but it is written that the weapon deals the damage.

You don't know about 3.5 either :p

Mundane ammo was treated as magical when fired from a magic weapon. ( I just looked it up in the 3.5 DMG)

Edit. That might come across as far snarkier than intended. Apologies, if so.
