What are detection spells?

Detect Evil, obviously.
See Invisibility, maybe. (detects invisible creatures)
True Seeing, maybe. (detects illusions etc.)

...in keeping with the Wizards normal rulings on this:

Example: a cure spell is a spell that has 'cure' in the descriptor. So, cure light wounds = a cure spell. Heal is not a cure spell! It is a healing spell allright, but not a cure spell (example, an item that gives each cure spell once per day does not give heal, remove curse, etc).

so, I'd say that detect spells are all spells that have the 'detect' word in their name:
-Detect Animals or Plants
-Detect Chaos / Evil / Good / Law
-Detect Magic
-Detect Poison
-Detect Scrying
-Detect Snares and Pits
-Detect Thoughts
-Detect Undead

Quite a list already

The warded creature or object becomes difficult to detect by divination spells such as clairaudience/clairvoyance, locate object, and detection spells. Nondetection also prevents location by such magic items as crystal balls. If a divination is attempted against the warded creature or item, the caster of the divination must succeed at a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against a DC of 11 + the caster level of the spellcaster who cast nondetection. If the character cast nondetection on the character's self or on an item currently in the character's possession, the DC is 15 + the character's caster level.gp.

Since not all Divination spells are covered, only ClairX, Locate Object and 'detection spells', I was wondering what detection spells were in this context...

So, basically, I was asking what non detection would foil.

Nope it says "such as" giving examples of divination spells, but not the only ones

Read that as if a spell from the Divination school is cast on the subject of a Nondetection spell, you follow the rest of the spell:

, the caster of the divination must succeed at a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) against a DC of 11 + the caster level of the spellcaster who cast nondetection. If the character cast nondetection on the character's self or on an item currently in the character's possession, the DC is 15 + the character's caster level.

Nondetection protects against all Divinations that gather information about the target. This includes Scrying, the various Detect spells, the alignment-detection power of True Seeing, and so on.

However, like SR, it is useless against indirect effects. For instance, True Strike is a divination against which Nondetection does not protect.
 

SInce it all began with a dispute between Janos and me, let me put the question in other words: if an NPC is invisible and protected by non detection, a PC casting True seeing can see through the invisibility, since True Seeing is not cast against the NPC?

Ok, here are my thoughts on this

The question is does True Seeing go through a Divination

True Seeing
Divination

Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
The character confers on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus her vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extradimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.
True seeing, however, does not penetrate solid objects. It in no way confers X-ray vision or its equivalent. It does not cancel concealment, including that caused by fog and the like. True seeing does not help the viewer see through mundane disguises, spot creatures who are simply hiding, or notice secret doors hidden by mundane means. In addition, the spell effects cannot be further enhanced with known magic
Additionally, the divine version of this spell allows the subject to see auras, noting alignments of creatures at a glance.

We know that Non detection stops Clairaudience and True Seeing

Clairaudience/clairvoyance enables the character to concentrate upon some locale and hear or see (the character's choice) almost as if the character were there. Distance is not a factor, but the locale must be known—a place familiar to the character or an obvious one. The spell does not allow magically enhanced senses to work through it. If the chosen locale is magically dark, the character sees nothing. If it is naturally pitch black, the character can see in a 10-foot radius around the center of the spell’s effect. Lead sheeting or magical protection blocks the spell, and the character senses that the spell is so blocked. The spell creates an invisible sensor that can be dispelled. The spell functions only on the plane of existence the character is currently occupying.

The character senses the direction of a well-known or clearly visualized object. The spell locates such objects as apparel, jewelry, furniture, tools, weapons, and even a ladder. The character can search for general items such as a stairway, a sword, or a jewel, in which case the character locates the nearest one of its type if more than one is within range. Attempting to find a specific item, such as a particular piece of jewelry, requires a specific and accurate mental image; if the image is not close enough to the actual object, the spell fails. The character cannot specify a unique object (such as "Baron Vulden’s signet ring") unless the character has observed that particular item firsthand (not through divination).
The spell is blocked by lead. Creatures cannot be found by this spell. Polymorph any object fools it.

Now, comparing these 3 spells, ClarX and Locate object don't cut through Nondetection. Both of these spells are divinations. Neither specifically targets a creature or object, but an area around the creature or object.

True seeing is also a divination. When its in effect, it doesn't target a specific creature or object. Just as the case with located object and ClarX, a creature with True Seeing attempting to use this against a creature with Non-detection, they will need to make a caster level check against the non-detection.
