About two hours after the encounter with the dire weasel, you begin to see strange smoke drifting lazily upwards from what looks to be a little south of Grenton. The smoke is a mix of shimmering reds and dark orange-browns.

Galwynn is still grumbling to himself, thanking Halina that he wasn't mentioned in Keldar's song ("Or does he have something even worse in store for me...?" he can't help but think).

Upon seeing the smoke, Galwynn curses loudly. "Burn me in the lightless pits! That can't be good. No!"

He begins to remember when his own village was torched... this seems too familiar. Galwynn starts walking faster.

"Smoke. Coming from Grenton. Looks like a fire, but I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong..." His voice trails off. "You smell anything?"

"No, I don't smell it. But what colour is it?"

[sblock=OOC]Knowledge (nature) to recognise the burning substance by the colour of the smoke: 16.[/sblock]

OOC: A large fire will make the smoke glow red, as embers in the smoke catch fire.

We had a forest fire here last year, and the very smoke itself was red and orange. I don't know if that's what the GM was going for, here, but it explains why Galwynn thought the source of the fire was mundane in nature, at least.
