Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

"Either something burns hot, or something unnatural burns. Our employer did mention something about a potential fire, did he not? Something of a worst case scenerio?" Rapture asks, trying to recall.

"Whatever it is, we should see if we can help. Perhaps Keldar can sing down the fire."

OOC: Well, metagamely, I assumed that pre-existing Enworld hamlet Grenton wasn't being wiped off the map, meaning that IC Keldar sees that the smoke plume "drifting lazily upwards" is not that big, and thus is of unusual character. Not surprising that Galwynn, with his history, would think the worst, though.

"My songs light fires of the heart," says Keldar, "'tis true, but I think they have few other uses."

"At the Academy, smokes of all colors and textures could be seen, especially around the alchemy labs. Still, I'm not sure I've seen anything like this before..." Tommy says uncertainly.

"We could travel on through the night, but we would not be at our best when we arrived," says Keldar, but he matches Rapture's stride, with the occasional extra hop. "I hope, whatever is happening, Grenton can cope without Keldar until tomorrow."

OOC: "Grenton is about a day and a half to the southwest, on the road to Allimon"

OOC: I don't think it's at all unreasonable to see a smoke plume that rises a kilometre into the air from 40 km away, judging by the mountains across from where I'm sitting now. Yeah, I couldn't resist getting over-analytical.

OOC: hrumm... is this where I get to chide you for being over-analytical? :]
OOC: I'm just saying I thought we were significantly closer. I'm assuming Wik thought so to asking of Sammy could smell anything. How good is her nose from 40 km? :p
