Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

OOC: Eberron campaign setting. It's a template that makes a monster out of a spell. Kinda neat.

Basically, a spell that has been infused with some sort of primal magic (usually metamagic, if I'm not mistaken) that has allowed it to last indefinately. Some of them even adopt rudimentary intelligence.

OOC: while we're metagaming slightly :p : EternalSword, if we rest for a night, will we get XP awarded? Tommy is very close to level 2, though I doubt one dire weasel will have tipped him over. Oh, and whatsisface the paladin too. Actually, he might well reach 2nd level.

OOC: Ah, no wonder I'm not familiar with it. Well, I'll go ahead and roll kn(arcana) and let our DM decide what Tommy knows about it. 1d20+10=14

"It can't be too far," Rapture says. "But the longer we delay, the worse things will get with a fire. Hopefully it's not a return of the afore mentioned dragon."

"A day and a half," muses Keldar. "There may be little left. And yet the fire neither grows worse nor lessens, so I wonder. And I also wonder what that blue flash a moment ago means."

"When the Sice dorms were on fire, some of the professors were using cold-based spells like Cone of Cold and Ice Storm to help put it out. Some of the other students and I helped out with Ray of Frost, but that didn't really do much. Somebody dug up a decanter of endless water at one point; that really helped. Anyway, I think there seemed to be more smoke and less flame after the flash we saw, so maybe Thyrin is making some progress." Tommy offers.

"In the absence of one of these decanters, perhaps we should borrow some buckets from the goodfolk of Grenton. I suppose the wizard will have a cistern near or in his tower."

OOC: Yes, you will get exp.
[SBLOCK=Tommy]Living spells are the products of magic that fails to dissipate properly.[/SBLOCK]
The woman turns to Rapture "It's not the dragon. The thing breaths some sort of gas that dissolves things. The tower is about 15 minutes from here, and the well and buckets are that way" she gestures to the southeast, near the barricade.

OOC: My figures intially were based on the time the SotD crew took to get there. They got ambushed twice plus they were moving slowly to pose as merchants. With you guys not worrying about that you can make much better time.

"Does anyone get the feeling this woman isn't too fond of adventurers?" whispers Keldar.
"Maybe we can change her mind, but we'll have to move quickly. Shall we be about it?" responds Tommy.
