Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

OOC: I think we need to pause a little here to see what happens to the earth elemental when it takes the 2nd round of alchemist's fire damage on Keldar's initiative count in the second round. At that point, if it's a small one, then it will die (and I think its first round attack on Galwynn would need to be retconned, since the attack and damage use the modifiers for a medium one. If it is a medium one, well... um. Yeah. See you in the afterlife.) If it's dead, then Galwynn's announced action for the 2nd round in #565 becomes irrelevant, unless he attacks the smoke/fire elemental instead... but he's going after Keldar and Rapture anyway.

OOC: Yes, Trouvere, I believe I have made an error. ES said "A earthen humanoid rises from the bulge in the floor," and I took 'humanoid' to mean 'medium sized humanoid', but that's probably not what he meant, especially considering (as Trouvere pointed out to me privately) that all the other elementals (including Smokie) have been explicitly small. So here's what happens:

I'm using Earthie's same attack roll as before, with a +6 modifier instead of +9, which still hits Galwynn. I'm rerolling the damage, since the die type is different: 1d6+4+1 = 6 (I forgot to add +1 for Earth Mastery in the IC roll). So Galwynn officially takes 6 damage instead of 15 damage. Sorry for the confusion, now on with the game.

Round 2
Initiative:

22 Keldar
19 Rapture
19 Galwynn (13 HP)
14 Tommy
06 Earthie (Collapsed)
06 Smokie
03 Tarag

The little fires that Keldar's alchemist's fire left on the earth elemental continue to burn and dry up the mud holding the thing together. As Tarag brandishes his holy symbol at the smoky fire elemental, the earth elemental collapses into a pile of rubble and dried up mud.

Keldar...

OOC: phew, is all I can say. Well, Galwynn's not all that hurt, in the event, so Keldar will hold off on using his mighty healing powers on him. Okay, then, er:

"First mud to Keldar! Now, if someone would just let me through, I shall save you all again," says Keldar.

OOC: delaying until either Rapture or Galwynn moves to the spot just vacated by Earthie; once either moves, he'll take their place and swing at Smokie with his morning star (+2, 1d8+3).

Rapture's blade cleaves through the flames easily, she feels no resistance until her sword clangs against the stone floor. In a tiny explosion of hot, white ash, the fire elemental dissipates into a pile of dust.

End combat.

You can see down the hallway, it seems to extend to the center of the tower, and then opens up into a large room with couches and rugs. You can't see much from this vantage point, you'll have to move into the room to get a better look.

"Well done!" Tarag's voice is gruff. He is embarrassed that he failed to rebuke the fire elemental - although, if the truth be told, that sort of thing has never been his forte.

He moves forward to examine Galwynn. "Let's have a look at you lad. How badly are you hurt?"

"Ah, it could have been much worse. Here - a little of Chennet's healing for you."

[sblock=OOC]Since T's healing is limited, I'm going to have him cast a Cure Minor (1 hp), and keep his Cure Light spells for more serious wounds - unless anybody objects.

That being the case, he converts his prepared Light spell to a Cure Minor.[/sblock][sblock=Spells & Turnings]Spells per day: 3 / 2+1

Tommy lowers his crossbow, having never had a chance to pull out his wand, and asks "Are you badly hurt, Galwynn? Are you well enough to continue?"

"Excuse me, hero coming through," says Keldar, moving to the front of the group. "Ooh, comfortable couches and rugs, Rapture. I say we check them out."

Tarag moves forward and claps Keldar on the shoulder.

"Well done ... hero ... keep that up and you'll earn the title."

He smiles to take any sting from his words, and then looks around the room.
