Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

Keldar finds himself facing Rapture through a haze of drifting ash and dust, with no further enemies to fight. "Galwynn...!" he exclaims and rushes around the wall "Is... is he- still-" he stammers, flopping down on the nearest step next to Tarag and supporting Galwynn's head.

As Chennet's healing power takes effect and Galwynn's colour improves, Keldar takes a deep breath. "You look terrible," he says. "And you're injured." He flashes Galwynn a smile and goes to collect the daggers he has left scattered around the hall.

"That was a mighty battle worthy of song," he says. "And you know who we have to thank for our victory, eh? Tommy? eh?" He points at the mage. "That's right! Keldar! Slayer of three elementals!" He bows.

Keldar's smile fades. "We're not in good shape, though, are we? Galwynn's barely conscious, Tarag took a beating too.... And I still have to risk my neck with Thyrin's ridiculous trapped daises - because we are not fighting anything on this floor again."

He goes to Tarag and Galwynn, and nudges the cleric. "Listen... I don't want to sound cold-hearted. But I still have a job to do here, and - you never know - I might get hit by a falling block, or jabbed by a blade, or torched. Can you keep a prayer in reserve for me? Galwynn, will you last as you are? Just give me some time to look for the summoners, and then I think we should get you downstairs, and off to a nice tavern in Grenton, and Tarag can heal himself and you! I'm fast losing patience with Thyrin and his stupid tower, and I don't care if he has to wait a week for rescue! It's his own fault."

"Right. Look. Um, if you could, uh, come back a little later. See, me and Hyrag are kind of having this little 'thing', right now. Now's not really a good time, Galwort."
OOC: Won't her husband Zephos be a little upset about that? :uhoh:

Rapture puts her sword away and heads to Galwynn's side, as Tarag heals him to consciousness. She smiles at the man, glad to see him open his eyes.

"If Tarag is running low on favors from Chanet, perhaps we would be wise to finish our business on this floor and rest for a bit. Galwynn is in no condition to fight further at the moment, and I'd pray not risk another life if we've no way to to stabilize them."

"Keldar, do you think you can go about disarming these devices while Tarag and I tend to Galwynn?"

"Sure. Why not?" says Keldar. "If I get into any trouble searching the whole rest of the floor, and the unknown perils beyond the oaken door, I'll come back and tell you how it went. Probably."
He takes a few steps. "Right. See you all later, then."
He takes a few more. "That's me, heading off to risk my life, alone."
Keldar heads off down the hallway to the door, skirting the obvious earth elemental dais.

"I'll go with you," Tommy says abruptly. "I won't be much use here, anyway. I still have a detect magic spell prepared, and it looks as though the best use of it would be to help us consolidate whatever gains we've made today."

ooc: Tommy will follow Keldar and cast detect magic, looking particularly for summoning devices and traps. And, you know, any scrolls or wands or potions or magic items that might happen to be lying around. :D

Rapture does not look amused. "Just on this floor, and we'll be within earshot."

"Good," says Keldar. "I feel safer already. There's only so much space for mopping Galwynn's brow, anyway... unless they drag him into the hallway. You know, hurtful as it is to say, Tommy, I don't think Rapture entirely trusts me. Ah well. Since we already know where the earth elemental came from, let's see what lies beyond the door."

"Now wait a minute, you two. I'll be with you soon."

Tarag gets to his feet, then bends over and casts another minor blessing on Galwynn before helping him to stand up.

"Right then. Rapture, keep an eye on him. I'm going to play medicine man to the rogue, if needed."

"I know keeping an eye on me is fast becoming force of habit, but I think Tarag meant for you to look after Galwynn - he's as weak as a kitten," says Keldar when Rapture approaches. "Still, if I do get injured, will you lay your hands on me?"
