[Nov] What's up in your campaign?

Campaign is on hold now, should get up and going this coming weekend:

The players:
Thengar, the gun-totting Dwarven Fighter/Wizard (going for Spellsword PrC)
Skeekle, Goblin Ranger/Rogue/Fighter (he hates the XP penalties...)
Weedle, Kobold Rogue/Sorcerer (The resident evil bastard of the group)
Vixe, Human Monk/Sorcerer (He just died last session, but some otherworldly power brought him back and is now inhabiting his body...)
Archimus, Elven Bard/Fighter (The NPC of the group)

Vixe has been off doing his own thing lately and getting killed as a result. He recently joined the local Shadowmage's Guild and now I somehow need for him to get back in with the rest of the group... they'll need his help. Kind of hard to do that when you've been killed and brought back in a different body...

The others are planning on assaulting a noble's manor. The manor is surrounded by two curtain walls. In between the two walls are the manor's gardens, in which are housed a variety of 'strange and unusual' creatures such as twig blights, displacer beasts, abrians, dire weasels, dire wolves, kamadans, and krenshars. The manor's lord has a fetish for strange and exotic animals and uses them to keep most thieves out. The guards on the inner curtain wall do the rest.

Thengar has successfully infiltrated the manor and is now working as a mercenary guard along with Archimus. They are planning on bribing some of the guards and then letting some of those nasty critters loose to create a distraction. During that time, Weedle and Skeekle can sneak in and the group can try and find what they're looking for, namely any incriminating evidence that the nobles have been secretly supplying the hobgoblin empire with airships in their war against the empire.

We just started The Fane of the Witch King and it seems to be going well. I anticipate about 5 or 6 sessions worth of adventure with this. The real beauty if the adventure is that most of the monsters are ones from the D&D Minis that are out and it makes for great battles on the Battlemat. I finally get to use "Big Red" (Large Red Dragon-not Huge). What until the PCs see what's coming up...

In the Eberron game I'm running (I finally got one to work in person! Huzzah!), the party is entangled in the murder of Bonal Geldem by a warforged assassin. Unlike in the Forgotten Forge, however, Geldem carried information from the Llesh Haruuc which may prove vital to House Orien. And House Orien, tantalized by the hints contained within Geldam's letter, wants the party to go to Darguun and find out what the whole story is.

Demiurge out.

pimpin the A.C.A.D.E.M.Y. again

Currently lost on Acheron, seeking out the Lord of the Iron Fortress.

They already know that Ashardalon is planning his return, except in my campaign Ashardalon is going to be a mini-Tiamat. 5 headed dragons rule.

In between, they'll have to take out the A.C.A.D.E.M.Y of Evil, a gathering of previously vanquished foes united under the leadership of Devis, the bard everyone loves to hate. See their picture and story here: http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=103557

And I'm already starting the basic preparations for our Eberron campaign after this is over.

Planescape: party's stuck in an abyssal prison/fortress contended by fiends and Mercykillers, as they attempt to find out how to remove a powerful curse they've received. A magical mirror may have the answers, but it is too twisted to release them. And the lord of the layer is coming with an army in a few days.

Ravenloft: we've struck a deal with a shadow dragon, one of our three main enemies, to defeat the other two. We've got the sword of Kas and an Inquisitor who is immune to its influence, so things are looking a bit better.

Warcraft: after a nasty battle with an undead abomination which killed two party members, the PCs recovered a vial with water from the well of eternity, and given it to Jaina Proudmoore. While the alliance council decides what to do with it, they've also got another job to rescue some captured merchants from jungle troll pirates.

Forgotten realms: we're going to attack a powerful cleric of Kiaransalee tomorrow. To make her think that we've already been defeated, I'm going to pose as a vampire. We'll see if that Spy prestige class was worth taking.

The Monday group

I have started an FR campaign way before the Time of Troubles. As a start they have completed the "Challenge of Champions I" in Hillsfar (to bring the group together). For winning the contest a guy from Phlan made them an offer (if they accept, they'll be shipping to "Ruins of Adventure").

Since there is also an increasing danger of a Zhentarim invasion, a new army has been formed. (and the players will be directly involved in bringing Maalthiir into power, though they don't know it yet). They will be hired to exchange something in the house of the second-in-command of the new army. They are told that the item they are going to fetch is the intention of this job, while it is exactly the other way, as they are planting evidence for a collaboration with the Zhentil forces in the house.

The hoúse of the commander (who is already on the Zhents' payroll) and the second-in-command will be raided and the new chief of the army will help Maalthiir to grab power in Hillsfar...(and the characters will be on their way to Phlan, when this happens)

The Thursday group

It is a pity that we are falling back to one session every three weeks, as they are currently exploring the gnome enclave of Jzadirune. Yes, it is the first entry of the Adventure Path placed in Greyhawk... sigh.

I'm still busy writing up the campaign world (chesse warning: I use a map of Europe and some real names of places):
http://www.invisiblecollege.net/terrene/index.html

Besides the minor conflicts that are always going on between kingdoms or minor lords, the humanoids are gathering in the wilderness for another invasion, the clerics of the main evil god (who is a twin of the main good god) have come up with a way to appear good and are infiltrating the good gods church, and lands of a destroyed empire are being explored. The most complicated issue is happening in a small previously unimportant country in the north. The princess of the country is the last of line of a ruling family that could claim rulership over the larger northern countries of barbarian tribes. If she has a male heir, then he could claim the crown of all three countries. If this happens, the barbarians will want to see him raised with their pantheon of barbarian gods. The main pantheon of the world is split into lawful and neutral schisms. The neutral one which the princess currently follows could allow for this and allow the two panthoens to join together. The lawful faction would never allow this to happen and is thinking of kidnapping the princess or heir and rasing within their church, or even killing them to prevent the barbarian pantheon from making headway onto the continent. Right now, this is all moot because everybody is trying to court the said princess to get to be future king of small country and father of the heir.

End of Campaign

The party obtained advice from an oracle to place the exact day their enemies would be the weakest. They attacked the Kaorti Cyst, retreating in and out of an antimagic shell, to the irritation of the high level wizard and sorcerer, who were taking care of the cyst while the leader was away.

The monk was nearly killed by devils, but the druid cranked out 7 summoned animals, The dwarven paladin thrust the Sword of Normality into a gateway into the far realm, which broke the gateway and destroyed the +2 far realm bane, intelligent weapon. He was saved by his squire, an undead halfling psion, furfilling the 1/2lings attonment quest and releaseing him into true death. The blast destroyed the cyst, but the PCs were still protected by the Antimagic shell.
They D-Doored out just in time to face the last surviving kaorti - their former human mentor. The paladins celestial warhorse which had arrived at the begining of the session charged him and struck him down as he tried to obliterated the stunned adventures.
The cyst was a sphere burried underground, and left a lovely crater. :D
They retreated to a tower which they had cleared earlier, and regrouped, studying the records they had taken from the cyst. They used The Book of Names (earlier quest artifact)to imprison the Kaorti leader. This places a 15th lvl kaorti sorcerer out of the current game, but he will be a considerable threat to be recovered in a latter age :)
They mastered the tower, and it has become a shrine to the elven godess of travel and planar gates. The tower no longer prevents teleporting out, but is still easy to teleport into, redirecting all such movement to a central chamber.

The Eyes of the King - part of a set of magic items were recoverd from the towers mechanism, bringing the total of set items to 4 of 13. They discoverd the origin of these Kaorti - a vanished collage of magic, and apprentices of the crafter of the quest items they had spent much of the game compeating with kaorti and a high priestess, discussed below.
They also found that the kaorti second sorcerer was assinated by a the archvillain of a previous game, at the behest of the high priestess of secrets- a LE powerbroker, still avenging the death of her son (a former PC)

In wrap up a very good story ending, drawing threads from near the begining of the campaign and using up 2 quest items obtained earlier. The party had lost 5 PCs and 2 NPC allies fighting these kaortri before this game. It left both a mysterious crater and imprisoned evil Lord. Unfortunatly the enemies did not provide strong enough opposition :( , and only one PC came near death. most of the others were barely scatched. An 8 month RT campaign that led from 3rd-12th level in 3 yrs game time.
Now another DM takes over, while I take a long break.

We're on a minibreak for most of Nov. We should get to play sometime after the 21, but beyond that, who knows.

However, as for what's happening:

And that's not even the half of it. :) I can't wait to play again.

Dude, I so want to play in this campaign...
