I just gave one player a marvelous figurine of a wagon that moves by itself and shrinks to fit in his pocket mainly becuase he needed a place to carry his ale while traveling. He's a dwarf if you hadn't guessed.

What stats did you give this thing? My Halfling Wizard has decided, seeing as he intends to be an Alchemist and Magial Item Crafter while still traveling, to research and design a Folding Wagon. This idea/item, if you hadn't guessed, was inspired by the good old Folding Boat.

I havn't decided yet if he's going to wait untill he's high enough level to include the Mount or Phantom Steed spells in the design, thus allowing it to be self-propelled. If he isn't, it could get interesting arranging for the critters needed to pull it. I'm pretty sure he couldn't convince the other PC's to 'voluntier' for Polymorphing into beasts of burden until the destination was reached. :D

Knights of the Dinner Table had a parody of Hole use of course, calling it something like a 'Bag of Hefty Capacity'. In that they found one million gp (King of Dragons' swag, natch) and proceeded to fill the bugger with every possible item you could ever hope to need, up to and including construction materials and 'Siege Works for Dummies' manuals. :D SUre it was meant as a parody, but you could come awfully close to actualy doing this with that much storage capacity!

I loved that strip. If I recall correctly, they put an entire merc army in there as part of a trojan horse idea, and then forgot about them. The next time they opened up the bag, the mercenaries had erected a fortress with the building supplies that were in the bag, and would fire siege weapons at the party every time they reached inside.

The knights ended up having to pay taxes to the rulers of "Bag World" in order to get their stuff out of the bag. Truly classic.

I think they generated the list of stuff in the bag by passing it around to all the employees. There was a lot of great stuff on that list, and a lot of it contained in-jokes and references to former strips.

I mention they're carrying around a lot heavy heavy bags and talked about how heavy they are and otherwise we don't talk about it.
Weight and carrying capacity arguements bore me.

Its funny. They're kind of self policing. When the monk tried to carry 4 bastard swords (on top of everything else his overloaded 12 str self was towing around) people mocked him until he relented.

The could actually put it in the magical disappearing chest (its tied to an iron ring, reading the inscription inside the ring summons the chest, saying the reverse makes it go bye bye)
but
1. They haven't figured out that the different locks and so on all point to different extra-diminsonal spaces.
2. They haven't figured out that the coding on the locks has been altered.
3. They haven't managed to kill the huge oche jelly living in the locked space they know how to open.

They would probably buy horses/carts/mules but they haven't been close enough to civilization to find any.

Hatchling here are the stats.

4 wheel two horse wagon (without horses just to set size and weight capacity). can be used up to 6 hours a day. when activated must stay normal size for one hour (To prevent it being just like a portable hole) and moves at 40' on command and by direction of person activating it.

I didn't stat a price and such since it was part of gifts given to the characters to make up for a severe lack of magic at their level. They were 8th with about 3rd level magic wealth. I had been rough but realistic in giving treause so I tend to make up for it with gifts and such if the players earn them.

But there it is.

he gave us a PPP - Portable Party Pool. It is basically a Portable Hole that each member of the party can access.

We do even less than that... we don't even talk about it. Pick it up, stick it somewhere, keep playing. We don't get to play often enough to be adding up the weight of a bunch of loot. ;)
