D&D 5E now that FR is the generic setting, is darksun also by extension?

How cool would that be, also bear in mind the only thing I know about either of these settings is from either the 4e darksun book or the 3.0 forgotten realms handbook.
Also if anything extremely important happened between then can you fill me in?

No, Darksun would need good support to work in 5e. We would need different subraces for most of the races and new races like the half giant. There would need to be rules on magic and how defiling and preservers work. Clerics and any class that gets spells from gods would need to be gone. Druids would need more of an elemental focus I would think. Fighters could have a pretty bad ass gladiatorial sub class option. But most importantly it needs psionics.

Dark Sun isn't connected to FR at all. Al-Qadim is; is that what you meant?

I was always under the impression that darksun essentially is what happened after some magical apocalypse in the forgotten realms... Also side note, I was told that planescape was not allowed to travel to the world of darksun does anyone know why? Lastly I hope there's 5e planescape books... Heard a rumor there would be...

Dark Sun is a different planet than FR. It's surrounded by some special border that most planar travel can't go through.

They do have thri-kreen with "psionics" in the monster manual. But the psionics are just spells for now. Blur and things like that.

You could run a DS game with that as the basic idea. No playable psionics, and if an npc should have some just assign them a few similar spells.

It is a completely separate world from the Realms and it was not a Magical Apocalypse. It was Halflings! It's not Planscape that can't travel there though there might be a restriction I'm not aware of. Spelljammer though specifically could not sail to Dark Sun the Crystal Sphere was damaged or some nonsense.

Dark Sun without Psionics is like playing Greyhawk but none has a right leg. Psionics are pretty important to the setting and were built in to such a degree that all characters have at lest a minor psionic ability.

Yeah at least when I ran 4e and 2e Dark Sun it was always concurrent with the other settings. In my most recent adventure the players discovered a crashed spelljammer that was caught in The Grey long ago.
