Now that's a lot of Prestige Classes

Ok I have a rough draft of the Races & Prcs in a Word document. This is more just a bump because I am going to visit my parents for a week and they have no internet (they are still living likes its 1973, minus the orange and brown furniture of course). I hope to be able to spend some time at my sister and/or brother's place to do some more work on it but I probably won't be able to finish it until nearer the end of the month (and then I go back to work!).

Holy Bovine, I am eagerly awaiting your return. Duncan's idea sounds great too. I'd love an index online, but I'd want a printable version as well since I don't have a laptop at the gaming table as of yet. Most times my index questions come up as players surprise me during game play. "Are there any Halflings in Ontenazu?" My answer is usually, "Uhhhhhhhhh, lemme see if I can find which book it is in then hopefully remember if it is a city-state or nation and uhhhhhhhhhh..." I'm sure my players think I've not even read all the books I have. :(

Way to go with indexing!

I can't answer about Asaatthi, since I don't know what made the final cut or what may have been added.

As for oregon... amusingly, my wife and I have been considering moving to oregon. ;) Some day, maybe.

So, the weekend nearing an end, our intrepid bard does a little dance with the thread. Which dance does our hero do?

Why, the *bump* of course.

Perform: Pun Ranks 36 :D

So what about the rest of you? PrCs are always good for some lively discussion ;) Do you allow most/some/none? how do you make the determination of what can/.cannot exsist in your game world? If a player really wanted to play a certain PrC would you let them even if you thought it could be overpowered?
- I suppose I allow "many" (see below).

- There are a few factors that I take into account when determining what can and cannot exist in my game world (FR). The main one is that I must own the book - no exceptions. It also has to fit the "feel" of the world (most do in FR, as another poster noted). Finally, I do look at the balance of PrCs to see if I really want them. For example, I dumped the BoHM's Hallowed Mage faster than you can say "holy overpowered, Batman!".

- A player can play any PrC he/she wants if I've already decided that it exists in my game world. Likes others have noted, the player has to have done adequate roleplaying beforehand, so the PrC must seem like an appropriate fit for that PC.

I just finished going thorugh my Scarred Lands books trying to compile all of the Prestige Classes into one document catergorized by location (ie where they are found in Scarn).
The list is 68 (84 including the DMG ones) entries long!
I did this for my FR campaign, listing them by source, where they are usually found, and where they can be learned. My little database (read: Excel spreadsheet) has 496 PrCs (and I don't use any Quintessential books, or most 3rd party books, either - that's all FR, WotC splatbook, and a couple of S&SS books).
