Is Farmer John done Mavrick?

Will we see anymore of these threads - perhaps Johan the Alchemist (Expert) over a Lifetime or Brother John the Adept

I like it, we seem to be using similar ideas since average Commoner is 4th level in my game. But shouldn`t he have Knowledge:Religion for being a religious man? ( as well as Knowledge: Local, but my Commoner would have more skill points, for all my classes have at least 4 per level, as in Wheel Of Time).

Sorry for the wait, but this character is so painfully weak that even I have trouble focusing time on him.

Next is Johan the Horse-Trainer (Expert)

I was doing it by the book (PHB). If I was giving him 4 skill points/level then the skills you mentioned would fit the character well. Feel free to adapt my ideas to your world.

Is OK - I'm looking forward to Johan and his Prancing Paliminos:D

and just to let you know that these threads are great (Captain John of the City Watch will probably make an appearance in a future game:))

I really like this idea. I'll have to give some serious thought to changing how I do things. This fits my philosophy very well, just doesn't for my DM. Luckily I have a screen of my own...

Why would the farmer get masterwork studded leather armor? Unless this is supposed to be a militia-officer commoner or something. I would expect him to go for masterwork spades, hoes, ploughs, use his wealth to expand his land and livestock, etc. The studded leather would probably come after arming his son with a weapon, or perhaps himself. I mean, while he is competent with the Sickle, there is a reason why most medieval armies carried swords, bows, or polearms.

Also, while a human might live to 110, I would expect a certain amount of slow down and retirement in the 60's. Particularly if he is as successful as this. The lifespan limits are supposed to be extremes, but if you place a medieval influence, he would retire and continue as a mostly vocal support to his sons. Maybe become a village elder or something. I doubt the experience would be gained at the same rate.

While the fastest way of gaining experience is Combat, it is not the Only way of gaining experience. Think of it a "Roleplaying" bonus of 365 exp / year. He gets experience just for living his life.

Of course most farmers don't live this long, but if you wanted a village elder type character then it would be very easy to adapt this one to your needs.
