In the monster manual it states that the first listed natural attack type for a given creature is its primary attack, and that all remaining attack types are considered secondary attack types. Taking the carrion crawler as an example, It states that it has 8 tentacles + 3 melee, bite -2. Now does this mean that a carrion crawler may roll 8 individual tentacle attacks per full attack action on a single target? and what if it chose to divide its 8 tentacles between multiple targets? can it do that?
As another example it lists the giant eagle as having 2 claws +7 melee and bite +2 melee. Does this mean you roll 2 individual claw attacks, or a single claw attack that is conisdered to be both claws at once? And again, can it choose to divide these 2 claw attacks (assuming it is able to roll individual claw attacks) between multiple targets?
I guess what im asking is, when a creature has an attack type listed as greater than 1 (ie. 2 claws as opposed to claw) does this mean it may roll individual attacks for each, or does it mean you roll a single attack which is considered to be both weapons hitting at once? Also, if it does mean it may roll individual attacks, can these be divided across multiple targets?
