D&D (2024) Is anyone at WOTC paying attention to what they print any more?

I think ending the paralysis instead of the poison if further along that scale, though. As I mentioned at one point earlier in the thread, there's at least a logic to the dex save. Paralysis inhibits movement and dex is movement, so you can kinda make the connection between the two being in opposition to one another. :P
Yeah. I thought the same thing. Dex is movement and paralysis is a lack of movement so it seemed like the correct stat matchup for sure.

Also this seems like something in a game that promotes creativity and thinking on the fly that is a minor issue. I for one am glad that DND isn’t just a set of perfectly concrete rules like a board game. Seems like approaching a game like this with a mindset of “Take what we’ve given you as guidelines but please let your table adjust as needed” would lead to a lot more of these types of issues. The fact there aren’t more is commendable

Well I found another example of what I think is poor editing and lack of attention to detail. On Mind Flayer:

Tentacles. Melee Attack Roll: +7, reach 5 ft. Hit: 22 (4d8 + 4) Psychic damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it has the Grappled condition (escape DC 14) from all the mind flayer’s tentacles, and the target has the Stunned condition until the grapple ends.

Well it lists an escape DC to get out of the grapple, but if you are stunned you can't take actions and it is an action to attempt to escape a Grapple.

It is possible to be immune to stun.

would guess that was the original idea - the initial Dave made sense to be Dexterity because it’s about dodging the tentacle, but a save to end the Paralyzed condition as a result of some a toxic agent on the tentacles would normally be Constitution. But, someone must have thought they could save wordcount by rolling the two different saves into one, and didn’t consider why the saves were made with two different abilities.
I would bet money on this being the story behind it or something similar. I will do CON save. Probably will get fixed in future errata.

If I’m not mistaken, another PC can use an action to try to “ungrapple” their ally. So, a DC would make sense in that case.

But your friend can break the grapple. Which happen with another monster which did this during one my games. gee. making the players use team work and forgoing thumping monsters to save each other. Inconceivable.
what next dogs and cats having the same ac.

With the Purple Dragon UA, Viscous weapon changes, the Sword and Board dual wielder, and the latest Carrion Crawler I am wondering if anyone in game design is actually paying attention. Note undelined below.

From MM2025 Carrion Crawler:

Paralyzing Tentacles. Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 12, one creature the carrion crawler can see within 10 feet. Failure: The target has the Poisoned condition and repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. After 1 minute, it succeeds automatically. While Poisoned, the target has the Paralyzed condition.

Now from PHB:

While you have the Paralyzed condition, you experience the following effects.

Incapacitated. You have the Incapacitated condition.

Speed 0. Your Speed is 0 and can’t increase.

Saving Throws Affected. You automatically fail Strength and Dexterity saving throws.

Attacks Affected. Attack rolls against you have Advantage

Automatic Critical Hits. Any attack roll that hits you is a Critical Hit if the attacker is within 5 feet of you.

So if you are paralyzed by a Carrion Crawler you get a save every turn that you automatically fail!
thus carrion crawlers suck. Every edition has poorly worded blocks that probably sounded cool in the developers head but could have been worded far better. As far as the actual effect on play, seems perfectly ok to me. you get paralyzed it sucks to be you.
